Villain either has a flush or doesn't have one and is betting it as a bluff. If he doesn't have it then you won't win anymore money anyways, but if he does, he'll call a raise. So raise.

Is the villain's range a flush and only a flush here? Couldn't he conceivably have a set, str8, or overpair that will pay us off?I think we need to call and raise any river that doesnt pair the board. If the board pairs we call the river.

We don't wait for safe cards in hold'em. Get it in now while we're ahead.I do agree, though, that this could be a set or two pair. I often see this where someone slow plays a big hand on the flop and then "protects" now that a third of the suit has arrived. This should always be a raise, though, because any of the hands he's repping will at least call and more likely re-raise.
