Sad State of my Stud Hi/Lo play

Recommended Posts

I love Stud Hi/Lo because if you play by the rules, you do well. I use to play by the rules. I did well. Then I deviated. Ofcourse, I lost and lost and I started feeling like I just couldn't get a break. Then, not more than 10 mintues ago, I picked up my Supersystem book and started to read the Hi/Lo section and realized, I am not playing by the rules. No wonder I am out of money!Anyway, when I first started playing Stud Hi/Lo online, I found this site http://www.pokersyte.com/seven_hilo.htm. I use to keep it up while I was playing online. If I thought about going in with something stupid, I would look at my list and if my hand was not listed, I would fold. My money would increase. I had a good time. Umm. So, now I am going to go back to the drawing board. My vow is to go back to what works. I will let you all know how I do.

Many of the top pro's consider Stud H/L to be one of the most challenging game to play. Big names such as Ted Forrest, Chau Giang, and i'm sure Daniel can name a few more, make a living playing high-limit Stud H/L and can consistently win against even the best players in the world. Tight play is absolutely essential to winning in low limits however, which can be frustrating against your average online poker player who generally is ignorant towards any strategy methods. The game really must be played for high stakes and/or taken seriously in order to play the game strategically and make it enjoyable.Check out Hellmuth's new book 'Bad Beats and Lucky Draws' for a great section written by Ted Forrest describing his play in one hand imparticular in 7-Stud H/L where he goes over his thought processes and absolutely owns some guy for a few grand.http://frankiepoker.blogspot.com/
