some interesting omaha/8 hands from pstars

Recommended Posts

Omaha isn't really my game but I've been slowly but surely building a bit of a bankroll playing the .01/.02 pot limit game on Pstars. The play there is so incredibly bad that even a bad Omaha player like me can't help but win. Here's some hands I was involved in today....PokerStars Game #1228522925: Omaha Hi/Lo Pot Limit ($0.01/$0.02) - 2005/02/17 -03:08:50 (ET)Table 'Eucharis' Seat #2 is the buttonSeat 1: bronxbummer ($7.30 in chips) Seat 2: michael59 ($0.46 in chips) Seat 3: LBcat ($2.54 in chips) Seat 4: Oldpath ($2.37 in chips) Seat 5: OmahaProdigy ($9.28 in chips) Seat 7: Warlock10k ($2.98 in chips) Seat 8: twostroke ($2.39 in chips) Seat 9: Wauzzz ($2.25 in chips) LBcat: posts small blind $0.01Oldpath: posts big blind $0.02boozie: sits out Wauzzz: posts big blind $0.02*** HOLE CARDS ***Dealt to LBcat [Ac 8s 4d Qs]OmahaProdigy: calls $0.02Warlock10k: folds twostroke: folds Wauzzz: checks bronxbummer: calls $0.02michael59 said, "fabulous more sucking lol"michael59: raises $0.11 to $0.13LBcat: calls $0.12Oldpath: folds OmahaProdigy: folds Wauzzz: folds bronxbummer: calls $0.11Ok, maybe not the best call.*** FLOP *** [2h 3h 7h]LBcat: checks bronxbummer: bets $0.34michael59: folds LBcat: calls $0.34Actualy, I hate this flop. This game is full of people betting their lows and I'm afraid I may end up quartered here if he has an A4 and a flush... or even a pair.*** TURN *** [2h 3h 7h] [5h]LBcat: checks bronxbummer: bets $0.30LBcat: calls $0.30Still worried about being quartered.*** RIVER *** [2h 3h 7h 5h] [7c]LBcat: checks bronxbummer: checks *** SHOW DOWN ***LBcat: shows [Ac 8s 4d Qs] (HI: a straight, Ace to Five; LO: 5,4,3,2,A)bronxbummer: mucks hand LBcat collected $0.84 from potLBcat collected $0.84 from potOk. So what the hell could he have been betting with? He didn't have a wheel, he didn't have a flush, he didn't have a boat, he didn't even have 3 7's, and he had a caller on every street.*** SUMMARY ***Board [2h 3h 7h 5h 7c]Seat 1: bronxbummer mucked [9s 5d 6d Ah]Seat 3: LBcat (small blind) showed [Ac 8s 4d Qs] and won ($1.68) with HI: astraight, Ace to Five; LO: 5,4,3,2,AThat's right friends, he was betting a pair of 5's and an A6 low.On to the next hand...Table 'Eucharis' Seat #1 is the buttonSeat 1: bronxbummer ($7.42 in chips) Seat 2: michael59 ($0.81 in chips) Seat 3: LBcat ($1.98 in chips) Seat 4: Oldpath ($2.49 in chips) Seat 5: OmahaProdigy ($9.30 in chips) Seat 7: Warlock10k ($2.98 in chips) Seat 8: twostroke ($2.39 in chips) michael59: posts small blind $0.01LBcat: posts big blind $0.02boozie: sits out *** HOLE CARDS ***Dealt to LBcat [As Kh 7c 3c]Oldpath: calls $0.02OmahaProdigy: calls $0.02Warlock10k: folds twostroke: folds bronxbummer: calls $0.02michael59: raises $0.10 to $0.12LBcat: calls $0.10Oldpath: calls $0.10OmahaProdigy: folds bronxbummer: calls $0.10Better hand than last time, still probably not worth calling the raise... but like I said this isn't really my game.*** FLOP *** [8s 2c 5h]michael59: bets $0.50LBcat: calls $0.50Oldpath: folds bronxbummer: folds Great... I'm already worried about being quartered again.*** TURN *** [8s 2c 5h] [7d]michael59: bets $0.19 and is all-inLBcat: calls $0.19Oh well, at least if I'm quartered it won't be toooo painfull*** RIVER *** [8s 2c 5h 7d] [Ts]*** SHOW DOWN ***michael59: shows [3s Jh 6s Ac] (HI: high card Ace; LO: 7,5,3,2,A)LBcat: shows [As Kh 7c 3c] (HI: a pair of Sevens; LO: 7,5,3,2,A)LBcat collected $0.92 from potmichael59 collected $0.46 from potLBcat collected $0.45 from potSure enough, he was betting the low. Good thing I made a pair of 7's and took 3/4 the pot.

Thanks for sharing this. That is brutal play by your opponents. I'm quickly becoming an Omaholic. I like it much more than HE below the 4/8 limit.I've been doing pretty good at limit $1/2 O8 on Stars. I may have to try the PL.

In the first hand, there are two possible explanations for your opponent's play, both possible since it was .01/.02. He either thought it was Omaha, and was actually making a good play by betting the pot knowing you couldn't have the nuts and would fold, or he thought he had the nut flush. Of course, there's also the possibility that he's just an idiot that you should follow to every table he ever sits at. It was probably correct for you to raise after the turn here, but just calling is OK too.The second hand, your opponent played fine. He had a reasonable number of high outs (12 after flop, with a weak backdoor flush draw), the nut low (which would have held up had either an A or 3 come up), and the possibility that everyone would fold to him.
