  1. DN made the wrong play and knows it. Now it is about wording lol.A call is the absolute worse play you can make, and DN did it. The math does'nt support it, position dam sure does'nt support it....nothing does. The correct play was a fold...it's that simple.
  2. But none of your outs are the nuts....then you face a tougher decision next bet....even IF you hit. A call could never be your best option. He is highly HIGHLY unlikely to lay it down for the price. You would need a tight passive player to lay it down....they don't make the bets that were made in this hand. A milking raise would get you put allin before you can blink. You can not be cutesy or show weakness in this scenario....and if you miss, you have precisely zero chances to take the pot off of him.
  3. I'll dam sure be interesting in hearing DN's reasoning if the answer is anything other than FOLD. Even your draws are'nt the nuts if you hit them. You don't have pot odds, but with an allin you are GIVING pot odds for him to call. Implied odds are'nt worth the risk, and calling is simply silly. If you call and hit, you don't know where you stand....if you miss you don't know where you stand...and it is unlikely you could lay it down anyway.BTW, I dislike the 400 bet, and hate the call for 1500 even more. Q's are too vulnerable to be playing them so cutesy. A 900-1000 bet into the 450 pot woul
  4. But NEXT hand pays 2400 less........and you ain't gotta no chippies. The fact remains, even Gus or DN are highly HIGHLY unlikely to come back from 10 to 1....luv'm, but it ain't happening.
  5. You must remember that poker is a partial information game....maybe DN had a thought or perceived info that influenced his play....maybe even subconsious. We debate hands here....sometimes heatedly....but the fact remains that NO play is always correct. I disagree with DN on the question in this thread, but I never doubt his ability, nor do I think he would say he is absolutely right in the matter everytime.Like many teachers have said....Do what I say, not what I do.
  6. What if next hand AE looks down at AA? Or any paint? Or...I have no clue where you came up with a 50% figure of drawing a better hand next hand........THIS doubleup pays more. You like to claw your way back, and you might be very good at it, but you are making it harder on yourself. Face facts, it is very VERY unlikely to come back from this scenario and win. By folding you lose 1200 that could have been doubled up...that does not happen "next" hand because that money is gone, and the "next" hand might be worse than this one.In this situation an old saying comes to mind. A bird in hand is wort
  7. A. your hand is not THAT bad against any 2 cards preflop in this situation.B. you have to double up quickly. THIS doubleup pays more.C. there is no guarantee Antonio won't have AA next hand if you fold here.Call and get ready to shake hands or play your azz of with your somewhat less desperate stack.BTW, for future reference....try not to be outstacked 10 to 1 against a world class player next time!
  8. What on earth makes you think this is a vast overbet? He has simply raised the pot...So, ummmm, you think a 5xreraise equaling a 15xBB preflop bet is NOT an overbet :roll:Definately not. This situation is very common at live NL/PL (and online now that UB has a 'raise the pot' button on NL tables)MP raises 3-4 x BB - standardLP reraises, and instead of counting chips and working out some 'correct' amount, simply says 'raise the pot'. Dealer does the math. This is not simply a pot sized raise(which is a common strong raise)...this is a bet of almost 3 times the pot when it got to him.....that
  9. What on earth makes you think this is a vast overbet? He has simply raised the pot...So, ummmm, you think a 5xreraise equaling a 15xBB preflop bet is NOT an overbet
  10. First point....wanna nice set of lawn darts? Second point....who made up this rule? You are dominated by TWO possible hands. The raiser made a vast overbet I.E a protection bet. He does not even know what AA KK even look like in this hand. I do NOT like calling my money off, but this hand smells severely of a small PP, Ace rag...alot of hands people will play from the stealing seat. At the absolute worst you are a 60/40 flip against a big overbet. Sometimes you have to decide you have the best of it and gamble....but I seriously doubt you will get an allin to a re-raise....maybe a call, but n
  11. An allin would be moronic preflop, nuff said.A fold is'nt very great because of implied odds.A call sends the wrong message for MY style of play. I'd re-raise here to send the message I will defend my raises and not be pushed out of pots.....no matter what stage of the tournament. NL holdem poker is not about cards. Personally, this is one of the few times I would min. raise. It affords you a great opportunity to take the hand down post flop....but it was not a quiz option, so I'll skip the reasoning.Bottomline....QQ is not the best possible hand, but it ain't far from it. If you won't gamble
  12. I try to look at it from each players seat.If the button raises minimum, From the BB I would come over the top with any 2 cards to test his strength. From SB I'd fold unless I had a hand, with 650 I ain't able to steal. If the button pushes, from the BB I'd call with any 2 cards because the pot odds are good and I can't be busted. From the SB I'd fold unless I had a hand.If the button calls, from the BB I'd raise with any 2 cards if the SB limped (of course), and I'd fold unless I had a hand if the SB pushed since he is not coming allin without the goods. So what does that all mean? It means tha
  13. I have'nt checked this site in a while....sorry.I thought I had explained my reason, but I'll try again.Making the call does one thing....something you "normally" would not want earlier in a tourney. It loosens the table up and gets you more calls. But it is not about "you" now. Yes, you can grind out the blinds....but this situation gives you a chance to take stacks intead of blinds....and entices the others to battle it out which decreases your risks.....plus you can still steal blinds. With a fold you might continue to swipe a few blinds with minimal risk. But WHEN you get called you are do
  14. They don't call him action Dan for nothing lol.
  15. Preflop UTG bets 3xBB, you have 1 caller...the SBFlop SB checks, UTG bet a pot size bet and SB moved in.Sorry for the confusion.
