trip report (boring)

Recommended Posts

Went to Foxwoods this morning on the 6:40 bus, got there around 9 and played 2/4 for about 5 hours. I normally play longer sessions, but I was pretty tired.Anyway, the game was softer than baby poo. Most people at my table were typical loose/passive/passive fish. There was one guy who had some preflop standards and would raise with good hands postflop, but I still think he sucked. Anyway, I started off on a little rush, making a K-high flush and then Kings full of Queens. But my cards were pretty cold after that. My VP$IP must have been below 10%. I got pocket queens twice, but no other premium pairs, no AK-AJ, not even many unsuited Broadways. So most of my play was perfect since the correct play was fold preflop over and over.Still the table was so bad that the 5 pots I did win put me up $65 for the day. Playing live reminds me how nice it is to see lots and lots of hands online. Also, I'm reminded that I like the auto-fold button. A couple times I zoned out after looking at my hole cards and the dealer had to try to get my attention a few times before I realized I had to physically muck my cards. One thing I saw was funny enough to put in its own post.Highlights include winning $10 at Keno (I got a coupon for free Keno from the bus), sampling the mediocre buffet, and being a railbird. There was a three-handed $150/$300 O8b game that I watched a little, but that's not much for spectators. There was also a full $150/$300 Stud game, although I don't know enough Stud to know if the play was good or not. I watched some $10/$20 and $20/$40 Hold'em. The play was competent, but it seemed pretty straightforward. The $5/$5 NL game was a JOPKE. Here's one hand I saw. 3 folds, limp, limp, fold, limp, raise to $35, SB folds, BB calls, calls, calls, folds. Flop is Td 7d 4c. Checked to the button. Button bets $50?!? The first limper raises to $200, everyone folds. What kind of crappy preflop play is this? And what is the button trying to do by betting 1/3rd of the pot?Next time I go, I should try $4/$8 or $5/$10. I think they're just a fishy as $2/$4.
