  1. I have to agree. Although I like and respect Jennifer as a poker player. I think she's a very solid player all around. But her chapter in SS2 was pretty standard at best. For that matter, the entire book was somewhat of a letdown for me. I was soooo looking forward to learning some of Daniel's secrets only to find out it was all on Triple Draw (WTF????). Really, the only chapter I got anything out of was the one on Omaha.
  2. I work in a hospital... Not a doctor or anything, I just work there. But one thing I hear repeated over and over by the doctors is the dangers of a vegetarian diet. Apparently, they end up treating people on these types of diets for for some major digestive problems on a regular basis. They claim that the human digestive system is designed to digest all types of food and needs a good balance of all food groups to remain healthy. Which is why animals that eat only vegatables usually have a special digestive system to help deal with that... Cattle have two stomachs for example. And the same is t
  3. I sort of feel that Annie Duke is over rated. But mostly by the media. As for the TOC... What really helped Annie was Raymer calling her all-ins with crap cards. He basically just gave her all of his chips. With that said... I am an Annie fan and I think she's a good player. Just a bit overhyped by the media at times. My overall vote would have to go to Phil Laak. But again, I don't think he pushes himself as one of the greatest players. He just gets portrayed that way by the TV announcers.
  4. Well, I can honestly say that I'd much rather play a tournament with Raymer than Arieh. Raymer won a lot of races, but also played aggresive as hell which is most important in that situation. Also, when Raymer lost a hand he simply said nice hand to the other player and went back to his game.Arieh seems to have some great instincts, but let's face it... Who wants to play with a guy who is going to walk around and insult you every time he's behind in a hand? How many times did he go all-in with the worst hand and suckout on them? All the while bad-mouthing the other player as if they were wrong
  5. I'd have to say the thing that helped Annie Duke the most in the ToC was the fact that Raymor pretty much just handed her all of his chips. I couldn't believe the crap he was calling those all-ins with. I'd guess that Annie couldn't believe it either. But, that's pker.
  6. Actually, I have picked up on that. It almost always occurs late in a tourney, near the payout level, and it's against someone with more chips than me.Here's another good one. I was playing in an Amatuer Poker League tourney last week. I wasn't having a great night really. I just happened to get lucky on a few hands and double up at the right times. Nonetheless, I was short stacked when it got down to the final two tables. The blinds were 500/1000 and I had 5000 chips. At this point I got moved to a different table. The very first hand I was dealt AJ suited... Not a great hand I know, but when
  7. You can ask anyone that I play with on a regular basis... I constantly get knocked out of tourneys by people calling my big raises with hands like that. It has reached a point to which I'm almost afraid to play good hands anymore. I know the rule is that AK should beat K4 3 out of 4 times... I guess I'm the exception to the rule. It's actually quite depressing.
  8. I have this theory about my tournament play. I could be in a tourney with one million other players. Out of all of those players there is one who will call any raise with the crappiest cards you could possibly have, yet gets lucky as hell on a regular basis. And this one player will find his way to my table when I'm holding a good starting hand. For example... I have AK suited... I raise 4X the BB and get one caller. On the flop I catch an ace plus two of my suit. Thinking I could take the pot right there I move all-in. Much to my surprize I get called. My opponent turns up J6 unsuited... He h
