LITTLEPOPPA 0
If you were a professional player, both involved in an offshore online site, in which the current legislation has wording may make that affiliation illegal (as the wording potentially makes any employee liable), and also involved in this WPT lawsuit in which the main issue is the "waiver" which lets the WPT use your image to advertise their own products, do you think that the professionals that now will possibly have to "distance " themselves from "sponsoring " offshore sites and not be directly affiliated with them will now sign the waiver at the WPT events and play them since there will be less conflict with the affiliation with offshore online sites? The WPT lawsuit could take years to get resolved and this online gambling legislation could take even longer to get repealed or adjusted after it is finalized. I am thinking that now that 2 or more major streams of income could be affected by this legislation that the professional poker players should make themselves available to enter every event they possibly can as:online qualifiers for all events not just WSOP, but WPT and other events will be significantly reduced in my mind and prize pools will be diminishedSponsorships by these online sites will also at some time in the near future have to be adjusted as taking a buy in from say full tilt as a professional poker player would constitute an affiliation and therefor be illegal.....and guys lets be serious the .NET and .COM "grey" area is soon going to come to an end, this circumvention wont be tolerated much longer in my opinion...If things stay the way they are, I dont feel the WPT lawsuit is even needed, as most of the "conflicts of interest" in the waiver was due to online affiliations, therefore I think we will see some defectors from the Lawsuit or even a full withdrawal as with now diminished participants in a limited amount of tourneys while also boycotting the WPT, will be essentially "cutting off their nose to spite their face" for Daniel and they would need to be able to have the best chance to make the most money as the total prizepools may be down %20-%50 year over year starting in 3rd quarter of 2007. If FCP does not accept US based deposits or make US based withdraws then he should be fine, right?
LITTLEPOPPA 0
yes...BUTto me that still means a significantly diminished income for the FCP site without US players and a hit to Daniel and it doesnt change the reduced amount of players and therefore prizepools for tournaments which is another hit forDaniel even if he cant get arrested.....so I am saying at this point since u cant advertise these sites in the USA regardless of them not taking money from US players, why shouldnt he just sign the waiver and make a deal that the WPT wont use his face outside the USA and not eliminate the largest poker tour from his income base...sounds like a decent agreement for both sides... Hotmark777 0
It wouldn't surprise me to see the WPTE fold at the end of this/maybe next year if the bill drives out the advertising $'s and online qualifiers. The WPTE has not had a winning year since it's inception, losing money each year. Without advertising and Online Poker to drive online satellite players to the tournaments, there will just be no reason to keep losing money hand over Frist.Even the WSOP will feel the pain, without the online satellite players qualifying for the WSOP the numbers will drop significantly, then when the WSOP airs on ESPN and we all see the appearence of declining numbers in attendance it will just be the beginning of the steady decline of Poker.Remember, many people attribute the explosion and much of the growth to when Moneymaker won the Main Event. The reason, "He turned $40, into millions" as an ONLINE player. Much of the growth we see at the WSOP is due to online qualifiers. This attempt is just the beginning of the government trying to end Online gambling/Poker, it starts with the Banks then the next step is the ISP's blocking players, etc.So, for now, Just paypal your $$ to someone who lives in Canada or the UK and let them fund your account for you, "Playing" is not illegal!! ....YETR.I.P WPTE

Less of a crap shoot, and a 5 million payday is still SWEET!!! Also the other $1500 events had nearly 2800 players, I believe. I wouldn't mind seeing that drop back down to 1000 or so. I'm not saying it is going to happen any time soon, but it wouldn't bother me. Poker will still be strong and going good, just not 8,800 ME strong.

GrindingAway 0
There's more than one way to skin a cat - find some overseas / offshore banks to work with. I found the Royal Bank of Scotland International Limited - RBSI - it's an offshore arm of the Royal Bank of Scotland where you can open an account with them with just a copy of your passport & a utility bill - No residence requirements - Don't know how $ transfers from the account work / but i'm gonna see if it works - I'm trying it now - I also read that you can open a bank account in New Zealand easily ...What surprises me are the sites that already say they won't be accepting U.S. based clients once the bill is signed into law - Guess i may have to add a Scottish address & IP to my "to do " list to play on partypoker : ) Prohibition Does Not Work. - those that do not learn from history are destine to repeat it. Good luck all - Don't Lie down & accept this. -

Ramocita 0
Maybe then... Pros would actually start winning the Main Event again.
