Recommended Posts

When i am focused I think i am a very good hold-em player. When i keep it in my head that I am to play my best poker and concentrate i play very well..above average. It is when I don't that bad things happen....it is like playing golf...you know if you keep your head down you will hit a good shot....but everyone lifts their head...it is similar to poker...I love the game..I am sure i am not the only one with this problem...Is it a routine that you use during every hand to help stay focused?????help me out guys..Ken

Yeah, it takes a ton to focus my mind when I'm playing online. When I'm playing live, there's so much to look at that I can focus very well for hours on end. However, online, my mind wanders. I used to surf the internet a lot because I absolutely HAD to multi-task. However, I downloaded music on my computer and listen to that while playing. I also shuffle an increasing number of chips. These both keep me better focused on the game. I also find that multi-tabling helps a lot because I don't have the room on my screen or the room on my computer to play multiple tables, listen to music, have my IM open (to talk to KingAustin about superfish at tables), AND surf the internet. This way, I'm keeping my attention at the tables - where it belongs. It's all about keeping your mind occupied.

Or play higher limits - that helps me focus.
Worst. Advice. Ever.
Ya.. not good advice. The best way to get focused, and or to remain focused is to treat it like a job.. I fu want to lay for fun thats fine. But if your serious, run through a daily routine, grab a coffee and a some cookies, w.e. it is, get your ipod out. whatever.. But find something that (like the Pavlov's salivating dog experiment,)routine helps!!
