my top 10 mistakes. can we learn from yours?

Recommended Posts

I could write a 10000000000000000 page book on all of the mistakes that I have made even though I have been playing poker since I was 12(22 years). But, here are just 10 that I have learned from. So, hopefully they are no longer leaks in my game. If you see me out there doing any of these things, please let me know if ya care from one FCP'er to another.WHAT MISTAKES HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM?MY TOP 10....well maybe not TOP 10...just the first 10 I could think of.#1 Playing tired#2 Playing when my mind is on anything else#3 Playing lower limits than I should(I ended up playing alot of hands that I should not have and ended up no being able to use advanced moves because fish and donkeys are clueless as to how to lay down a decent hand)#4 Miscalculating implied pot odds(this is based on the player I am up against). I now truly understand that the implied odds vary tremendouslly depending on the opposition, the table, my position, etc.#5 Playing the next hand after being angry/tilt/whatever for whatever reason.#6 Making calls when I should only be raising or folding.#7 Not playing the game with the best odds for me.#8 Not playing more tournaments(you know how much you can lose before you start...unless it's a rebuy) vs. CASH GAME(you can lose alot more than you bargained for by sticking around too long when you are way up or way down or neither)#9 Understanding that if I lose 50% of my stack I need to make 100% to get back to even. This seems like simple math. But, most people never think about it.....especially in tournaments.#10 Learning to fold MONSTERS against squeeky tight players. WHAT MISTAKES HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM?"You don't know what you don't know. That is why you do not have. If you knew what you knew then you would have. To know and not to do is not to know." - Unkwown

This isn't really a mistake, you just need to stop playing like an idiot when playing at lower limits. Most people make the opposite mistake and play too high for them and then play weak-tight.
