I actually love to limp early with big pairs, especially at an aggresive table. Say you limp with Kings early a player in late position may see it as dead money if he moves all in Limp+Blinds+Antes=Good Play. They can raise or move all in and by then its kinda obvious you either have a big pair or medium pair. If no one raises then you might have to throw them away later on in the hand, its the chance you took

It's good to experiment with smaller raises every once in awhile. I mean, hands like this are the danger of making small raises with monsters. You got your money in not so good. Turned the nuts, then still lost. That's not exactly the board I'm looking for either. You can be pretty sure your one pair is no good, but you've got a big draw....i dunno. Playing hands like that can get pretty ugly after the flop and when you have a hand that big it's hard to get away from even when you're beat.

What a horrible move, sure you got him to go all in with j6 and you can happily insta-call and laugh and marvl at your great play until you see JJ4 on the flop.

nay, but you already knew this. You're better off going for the limp/re-raise.There are very few situations where min raise is the right play. The only time I can think of it being the right play is when you have an entire table of weak/tight players, and they will all fold to a min raise. It happens.

On the flop, you were 44% to win the hand. Which is still better than any of the other players. The J-9 hand was 40% to win.So, you had a 44% chance of quadrupling your stack. Good play. Do it every chance you get. You got unlucky here, but you made the right play. The goal is to get the other players to commit their entire stacks as underdogs. Which you did. That's all you can ask.
