Online Poker Tournaments?

Recommended Posts

I'd hope not.
QFTThose tourneys would take several str8 days to complete. The best structures are the pokerstars deepstacks tourneys and the pokerroom grand tourneys. The latter of which having a two day structure.

It's one thing to play poker in a pokerroom for 8-12 hours, it's another to play in front of a computer screen. I'll save my money up and play live.

Id much rather play in front of a computer screen for that long I thinkMy back hurts when I play live for that long, there's always bound to be a douchebag or two at your table that is annoying, you can watch TV, surf the web, and listen to music in your own house, and you can eat your own food..Obviously there are benefits and pitfalls to both

All online tournies have to do is slow down the blinds after the bubble breaks and let people play poker. There's nothing I hate more than weaving my way through 900+ of my closest pals to crappe-shoot my way to the final table, where I have to crappe-shoot again to get close to winning.

Actually all they would have to do is figure out what the average number of hands per 90 minute level live is and then figure out how long it would take to play the same number of hands in cyberspace.Would cut the time down (espcially with the timers on online sites), and still get as many hands done per level.

I think that larger online tourneys will be a natural evolution. Not everyone lives where they can just up and got to a state where they can legally play at a brick and motar facility. I live in Georgia where there is no gambling and no friggin Indians tribes have settled here and made a plot of land sacred enough to build a respectable casino.Unless more states allow casino gambling, which i doubt, I think online tourneys will get bigger. Maybe I can declare myself a memeber of the thought to be extinct Negran-ahole Indian tribe and get a casino in this state. The'Winder

Goose I think an acceptable theory on this is anywhere from 2-4.5 orbits per 60 minutes, depending on your dealer...So you're figure'n about 18-41 hands an hour. So you can figure 27 hands to 62 hands in 90 minutes...But remember thats assuming you're dealing with solid dealers and quick play.

Isn't this like playing in the WPT? Phil Gordon thinks so.

something close is a deepstack tourney on stars with 5k chips and 30 minute blinds. since you see at least 3x as many hands online that is about the same structure as live wpt events and whatever

There are some new Super Structure Tournies on Pokerroom I think for 50+4 buy-ins, and 2,500 starting chips, 20 min blinds?FCP needs to introduce that as well, even if it were only say once a week.

Will there ever be a toournament structure online as they do live? Such as $10,000 in chips and 90 minute to 2 hour blinds?
God I hope not!! I've been in a few 10+ hour tournies I don;t want it to go for days. In a casino is different, sitting and looking at your monitor for so long sucks.

Better question is where can you find slow live tournametns that don't cost a couple $k to get in.
You probably won't find live tourneys that last for more than 6-7 hours that are in less than $1K range unless its a home game or something. Personally, if it's less than a $500 buy in with at least 300 people, it's probably not worth my time to play for more than 10-12 hours.

This surprises me. I would think that slower structures would be way more popular because it's an actual tournament where you can play poker than just everyone shoving all in on top pair. I guess I need tips on how to play online tournaments then...just play every hand until you bad beat someone to stay ahead of the blinds?

hands go by alot faster online so you don't need crazy long levels to have some play

I think these are the key points. You don't have to make the blinds as log to have the same amount of play. If you were to structure an online event like the ME it would have crazy amounts of play.
