Heads Up, Folding 2nd Nuts.

Recommended Posts

This was about a dozen hands in. Some history with player, he's pretty solid TAG. We okay with this line? He's good enough to call turn with nuts to make sure he doesn't get counterfeited. These are the kinds of reads I'm trying to lock down to get to the next level. He's got to know I'm firing turn/river with either the nut straight or the K hi straight, so he bluff raises here like never right? Raising the K hi straight here would basically be a semi-bluff line. Exactly how I would have played it. You are spot on with your read that this is almost never a bluff on the river and I think this is 100% a fold.At first thought I was thinking we should check/call river, but looking back, I actually really like the lead on the river.

turn was a death card, if he is a tag we are slightly behind his calling range on the turn imo, i pop it on the flop. a check call bet line is -ev imo with top set on a drawy board in the most part, bc we dont love many turns, also i dont bet the turn, pot control and then we could have called a river bet, of a somewhat smallish propotion compared to what we are now facing imo, but you play more plo then i do

wanna play some headsup omaha sometime? (I'm really bad but I love omaha :club:)
For sure. I hate HU on PS though! At least for SnG's. The 10/20 blinds make me want to claw my eyes out. I like tilt's 15/30 start so much more.

[ ] 2nd nutsGood fold imoI do think there is merit to leading the flop if you're not going to c/r
Good point. The reason that I do not take this line is because I don't want to price myself out of my draw if I'm down to the nuts. I feel that if I lead out here, I put myself in a perilous situation to a raise. By check calling, I'm keeping the pot manageable with a strong but non-nut holding. My line does become skewed here on the turn. I take the lead out line because I don't want him to check behind, thereby losing value on my 2nd nut straight with draws to the nut boat. I suppose I put myself in an equally perilous situation should he raise me here on the turn. The more I look at this hand, the more I think I should lead the flop. I just tend to default to a pot control line when OOP. Hmmmmmmm.
