A-t Sooted Hand Review In $2/2 Nlhe Live Cash Game

Recommended Posts

$2/2 NLHE live: Seat 9 (~$200) is SB, Seat 1 (~$80) is BB, and I'm UTG+2 (~$140). Seat 9 just sat down and this is the first hand he's playing. Seat 1 is pretty straightforward a player.PRE-FLOP: I pick up :jh:D UTG+1 limps, I limp, a couple more limps behind, and blinds check.I probably should raise here, I guess? I would have if I was opening for sure.FLOP: :ts:club::D Checks to me, I bet $6, folds to Seat 9 who calls, Seat 1 also calls, UTG+1 folds.TURN: :4h:ts:D:3h Checks to me, I bet $16...Here's where I immediately regretted betting as soon as I did it. Even though I just hit top pair, I think the Ten also helps a crapload of hands that were calling me on that flop for either a straight or two pair. Bet good or bad?Seat 9 thinks for a while and calls, Seat 1 then calls.RIVER: :5c:4h:D:qh:club: Checks to me, I bet $31...I was planning to check behind if I didn't improve on the river, but with trips now, I felt like I had to make another bet. Thoughts?Any help you guys could provide is appreciated.

$2/2 NLHE live: Seat 9 (~$200) is SB, Seat 1 (~$80) is BB, and I'm UTG+2 (~$140). Seat 9 just sat down and this is the first hand he's playing. Seat 1 is pretty straightforward a player.I would say before this hand you should add on. If it's 200max, buy a couple extra stacks of red and keep them in a closed rack and just top off whenever you fall down to the $160 area. If there is no max, just take out another $100 and put it on the table if they allow cash to play. If not, buy another $100. I understand adding on/topping off is harder in a live game than online with the instant options, but I think if you fall under 75-80bbs you should. Here in CO there is no max buyin because it's $100 max bet and essentially a limit game. So anytime I fall under $200 I pull out another $100. PRE-FLOP: I pick up :jh:D UTG+1 limps, I limp, a couple more limps behind, and blinds check.Mkay so 6 or 7 handed to the flop? So $12-$14 in the pot. I'll average and say a $13 pot. I probably should raise here, I guess? I would have if I was opening for sure.Yeah. Depending on the table I make it $8-$12 here. If you're not sure, I'd air on the higher side until you find an $8/$10 raise will do just as much as $12/$14. I guess you could limp here every so often, but I think raising here is best. FLOP: :ts:club::D($13 pot)Checks to me, I bet $6, folds to Seat 9 who calls, Seat 1 also calls, UTG+1 folds.Bet more. Like $8-$10. People usually won't fold for the extra $4, but you've got good equity so you can build a bigger pot when you win by only risking a few more BBs.TURN: :4h:ts:D:3h($31 pot)Checks to me, I bet $16...Here's where I immediately regretted betting as soon as I did it. Even though I just hit top pair, I think the Ten also helps a crapload of hands that were calling me on that flop for either a straight or two pair. Bet good or bad? It's a fine bet. It helps almost every straight draw. Even though 86/J8 got there. It's improves a hand like T8/JT so you can make more money off them. Two pair is also in their range since they are the blinds so T7/T4 isn't out of the question. In position this is a must bet. You usually have the best hand here and if you don't, you have outs. I also bet more. Somewhere in the $22 ballpark. Seat 9 thinks for a while and calls, Seat 1 then calls.RIVER: :5c:4h:D:qh:club:($79 pot)Checks to me, I bet $31...I was planning to check behind if I didn't improve on the river, but with trips now, I felt like I had to make another bet. Thoughts?Pretty standard bet. I like the <1/2PSB this time. They usually don't have much. The only hand I see calling a $60 bet is T8/JT. That would make it the case T so it's unlikely. The smaller bet will get people to pay you off due to them sitting there with 88 giving some speech in their head about pot odds and how they think you could be "making a move". This is a bet/fold unless you think one of them is capable of bluff/raising you taking your small bet as weakness. Unlikely in a $200nl live game though.Any help you guys could provide is appreciated.
Overall, nh. I think the flop/turn bet sizing needs to be bigger. The river is fine because playing at 200nl won't call PSB on the river very often. So just keep making small bets and let the $$$$ stack up over time.

Turn bet is good. The fact he is likely to have a straight draw to go with his pairs now is a good reason to keep the pressure on and continue to bet.I would also sometimes bet the river unimproved since he might call you down light thinking you have a busted draw.
