Tilt0Matic 0
Hi Everyone,I'm a long time lurker but first time poster here. I'm in a really bad spot right now and I'm hoping I can get some good advice from folks that may know some good answers :)I'm not much on drama but here's the short version of the story:I got married last year and our Honeymoon plans were ruined because our hotel in the Bahamas got killed by the one-two punch of Hurricane Ivan and Jeanne. We had to cancel our plans but got a credit for the air fare. We've been broke pretty much all year but had this airline credit that we HAD to use or we would lose the credit. We decided to try Vegas so that my wife can see a few shows and have a good time. I don't really plan on playing poker since it's our Anniversary so I'm not worried about the place having a great poker room or anything. The thing is that we just don't have alot of money to afford a nice room but I really want to treat my wife since our Honeymoon last year got so messed up with the storm. Any advice on a decent room for not alot of money? We will be there on October 21-23rd (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) if that helps. I think there are a few conventions in town which is one reason I can't seem to find anything at a decent price. Any advice is appreciated!
ajs1281 0
I stay at the crapicana (Trop)-Its actually a decent place at a great price, the pools are nice and you are on the strip with MGM, Excalibur, and NYNY as your other corners. The suites are actually reasonable as well, casino play isnt that great, but low limits if you guys are going down for some fun after the shows, and the MGM has a poker room across the street if you do want to get in a few hours. RhinestoneCowboy 2
A board such as travel2vegas.com or lasvegasadvisor.com would be able to give you much better insight.
Painter567 0
Venetian! I take my wife there every year and we went for our Anniversary this year. They have a great spa so you can send your lady there for treatments while you hit the poker room. The Wynn is within walking distance and has a good mix of games.Good Luck! NaturalSelection 0
THEHotel at Mandalay Bay (all suites) is the best but it sounds like it's out of your price range. Do yourself a favor and book all of your hotels through priceline.com, you'll save ridiculous amounts of money every time (use the bidding system, not shop and compare).Have fun! NaturalSelection 0
If you end up saving enough money on priceline, be sure you take her here for dinner:www.alizelv.comLike the original Andre's but with a more creative chef and the most incredible view in Vegas... Reading obviously isn't your first language. And the Venetian doesn't have a poker room. Other than that, you hit it on the head. Good Job.
CaneBrain 95
Ron, you salty man. How bad is Larry Coker??? Let me count the ways....I dont think the Canes could have outplayed them more and yet still look like such boneheads. oh well.End Thread Hijack.OP: Try the Flamingo. Reasonable rates, nice rooms, decent restaurants and you are right across the street from the bellagio and Caesars. Plus O'Shea's is right down the block!
MikePatrick 0
Be sure to have dinner at Rumjungle at Mandalay Bay on monday night, then stay for the club after 11. You won't have to pay the cover or wait in line. Awesome time!!!The Piano bar at NYNY is a blast also and a little more low key!I also reccomend checking vegas sites for more info. My fave is Vegas.comHave fun!
RayPowers 0
I hit the Orleanes, cheap, low stakes tables for fun with the wife (although I would not reccoment the poker pit), couple good shows, and the rooms are fine. The big problem with the Orleanes is it is off the strip...Ray
mx957 0
Do you have to go Friday, Saturday and Sunday? The Sunday - Thursday rates are almost half as much as the weekend rates. You can start saving a bunch right there and plus you won't have to stand in line everywhere you go. My Girlfriend and I just got back from a trip in early August...Bellagio was $139.00 a night Sunday thru Thursday. Mirage was $99. Check the non weekend rates out it's a heck of a lot cheaper.Just a little info....
Ron_Mexico 4,219
Now let me add something constructive. The Stratosphere is offering cheap rooms. Not the best place, but not god awful either.FSU did sack them 9 times. I wouldn't say completely outplayed em. But yes, could've worked out better.
Stylin_Fish 0
The lady luck is top quality....except they run out of towels and don't fix their elevators. When I went there I stayed at the LL and it was so cheap but we when we were in the garage we went to use the elevator and it didn't work so we walked down 3 flights of stairs. When we got to the front desk, we checked in and my dad goes "the elevator is out in the garage" and the guy goes "yeah, we know, it's broken" and my dad says "are you going to fix it?" and the guy said "no, it's broken." I just laughed.I havn't stayed in places like Bellagio or Mirage so I couldn't say. But when I stayed at Excalibur a couple of years ago it was okay and the plaza seems nice except their smoke-infested poker room.
speedz99 145
One suggestion:Go to the MGM Grand website and sign up for a "Players Club" membership. You don't have to do anything for it other than give your information, and in return they will send you promotional codes that will give you great deals like cheap room rates, discount spa, food vouchers, etc.I learned this from some other fcp'ers and it worked out great. Painter567 0
Ron,I didnt say the venetian had a poker room. I said he could walk to the Wynn. But you are right, I didn't see he was broke

Not the best place, but not god awful either.FSU did sack them 9 times. I wouldn't say completely outplayed em. But yes, could've worked out better.350 yards of offense to about 130. Thats what I was referring to. Plus all those dropped interceptions! Ed Reed doesnt drop those. I really do think completely outplayed them is a fair statement, even with all the sacks. All that means is Miami would drive and drive and then self-destruct....either by sack, penalty, missed FG, dropped pass, dropped picks inside the FSU 25....Ah screw it. I am just bitter. Stratosphere is cool. If you want to stay on the strip and really go budget try the Casino Royale. But that is not really suitable for an anniversary.

Socrates 0
Bellagio hands down.Dinner: Zefferino's or Le CirqueEntertainment: O or Blue Man are both pretty goodClubs: Pure is the place to be right now - * you'll have to arrrange for VIP unless you are willing to start standing in line at 7:30 to get in at midnight - The Foundation Room at Mandalay is a great place as well, especially for two of you, get a balcony table. Jimshoen 0
I took my girlfriend last Feb mid week - got a great deal. Great restaurants, pools, bars, pastry shop casino, “O” is a great show, and you’re in the middle of the strip. The fountain view rooms have a spectacular view of the fountain shows and a great view of the Paris, and other hotels. The music from the fountains is on the TVs too. Very romantic.
