The Trump Presidency Thread

Recommended Posts

Phew, I thought for awhile that your heart just couldn't handle all the winning...

I would love to go back through these thread and show how far the GOP have moved the yardsticks so that they claim that they are "winning" .

The only thing that matters is the SCOTUS. And there is no doubt that they're winning there and for decades to come. (Unless someone dies unexpectedly)

The American people should have taken to the streets by the millions in protest over the Merrick Garland blocked nomination. What an absolute travesty.

not really.

It's not like a minority filibuster happened. The Republicans had a majority in the Senate. The Senate is supposed to advise and consent. Where they went wrong is not holding hearings so they didn't do the advise part of things but they are totally in their right to not vote for a nominee but they should have held hearings and actually voted. In the polarized world now if the Senate is controlled by a different party than the President nobody is going to get nominated to SCOTUS.

Absolutely. Anyone other than the butthurt Bernie supporters realized that.

And not only is SCOTUS being loaded with right-wing judges but less qualified young ones.

I was actually hoping for the woman from Indiana. I think Trump screwed up by not picking her. She is only 46, and a pro-life woman, which means that dems would absolutely hate her while massively energizing the GOP base. I'm not suggesting that Kavanaugh is bad, but he won't be as polarizing as the woman would have been.

so owning the Libs is more important than the best person for the job ?

I mean, you can claim that's what I was saying if you want, even though I didn't speak at all about ability. At that point, everyone is equally great, and all things being equal, positioning yourself to energize the base and perform better in the mid-terms is definitely important enough to factor in the decision.

But if you hate women that badly, and don't think Notre Dame law professor Amy Barrett is qualified for the job because of her gender, I guess that's cool. (Did I do that right?)

my guess is that they have many things on Trump. Probably have video of him with underage prostitutes from his Moscow trip (he probably didn't know they were underage) plus they have a ton of financial dirt on him. A standard sex honey trap shouldn't be that powerful on Trump but with underage girls it might be.

"I have asked two senior, retired U.S. intelligence officers who spent most of their careers focused on Russia how they would characterize the Putin-Trump relationship. Independently of each other, they both said, 'Putin has something on Trump.'”

I used to think the notion that Putin had something on Trump to be somewhat far-fetched, but I honestly don't know what else could explain what we have witnessed.

There is nothing to gain politically and a hell of a lot to lose by going on the world stage and acting like a complete cuck.
