Got Beat By Drunk, Bad Players

Recommended Posts

I think of myself as a fairly good poker player; but tonight; I got my arse handed to me by a bunch of drunk bad players..So I am at a loss perhaps the forum will be able to tell me what to do..These guys call everything. Got a 8 2? Call or Raise. Why not? They are piss drunk and don't care.If you bet before the flop; they will call no matter what. In position, out of position, they don't even know what position is. If they are first to act; they will yell out "I Check!" before the turn or the river comes. They have huge bankrolls and reraise $50~$100 if you raise on them.. We were playing $3/$5 no limit holdem.Even when they have rags, they still call and bet, call and bet.And the worst part; they are ridiculously lucky. Flop comes out A J Q. They check. The other guy bets. They reraise. Turn comes out an 8. The check, the other guy bets, and they reraise. River is a 2, and they end up making their set of 2's. This crap goes on all night long.I had horrible hands, and they had just ridiculously lucky ones.Last hand, I had big slick, bet out, and they call. We see the flop.. 7 5 A. This guy fires at me, I call. J comes on the turn. I fire at him, he knows I have the best hand, but he doesn't care, reraises and puts me all in. River is a 6, he had a 8/4 so he made his straight.. I'm broke.Other than never bluffing because they call everything and trying to be "luckier" than they are, is there any way to deal with these people?I'll take whatever help I can get. Thanks.

Laugh all you want. I don't mind at all. When you watch a guy call 37+ times, throw in $100, and the yell out "I check!!" and then make his flush, straight, set whatever on the River some 30+ times in a row all while piss drunk on two buck chuck.. There's almost no words to describe it.I "would" like some helpful advice; of which this forum seems to be short...

You basically went gambling,, not playing cards. You would have done better to go to the $5 slots. It is like when you run good, and everything seems to go your way, and you play stuff you know you shouldn't, but it seems you just can't lose. Well, that night, unfortunately, the run-good was on there side. I have been to casinos many many many times and seen drunk idiots playing blackjack (hitting a 16 on third base with the dealer showing a 6), craps, etc. They have no clue what they are doing, but yet they are drunk, winning, and having a great time, while I am loosing my ass. It is still gambling, even if you have all the skill on your side, it still depends on how the cards come out. I feel your pain because I have been there several times myself, and I don't think there is anything anyone can tell you that will make it feel better. I have learned that is where discipline comes in. Get up and walk away. Even if you feel you can beat them skill vs skill, sometimes the gambling gods just don't let the cards come out that way. To me discipline is the hardest skill to master (if you are a true gambler, you never "master" it). Believe me. Walking away long term will save you $$$Thousands$$$.

I know, it was almost 10 sentences. WTF! From now on, I'm sticking to pop-out books and the "Where's Spot?" series.
Did you see what time it was for me? Pretty sure I'm incoherent to read anything relatively long at almost 5am!

Were you looking for advice or a pat on the shoulder? Advice would consist of you setting a particular problem you had during play and forum memebers giving constructive answer. If you looking for someone to feel sorry for you and tell you it wasn't your fault, you will get mocked. You could well be the most gifted player on the forum but your post comes across as whining about bad beat and for that I say BBFIDTS.

Although there is not one thing we can tell you to make these situations profitable from a strategy standpoint. I have a feeling that letting the above bolded part get to you so much is part of the problem. When ever I play with people like this I laugh and lick my chops....I'll play these guys over even mildly decent players everyday of the week. Yes....they are gonna get lucky....and sometimes it seems like it's over and over again but as long as you stick to your game and don't get drawn in (which is what they want) then you will prosper in the long run. The second that you get emotional because they hit a gut shot is the second that they have completely taken you over and you have no chance. If you want to get more definitive answers on how to handle these situations, then provide us with a little more information than just "they were drunk and really bad and luckier than me." Give us specific hand histories with all betting information such as amounts, starting stacks (of everyone), positions, etc etc. Read back through your post and pretend its someone else......you will probably realize why we laugh. Maybe notoh and this.....
A lil something to make this thread worth while.
absolutely made this thread fantastic...... :club:

Ya, if u play tight and jam with top holdings you will profit long term. That's the whole point. Obviously you won't win them all....and it sucks when you take a bunch of beats in succession. That said, I get the feeling you are playing outside of your bankroll size a bit in this game. No matter how juicy a game is, if you go busto, you have zero. You can be willing to take the added risk in a really juicy game, but this result is always possible. If it is within your bankroll, then STFU and grind it out. You'll take all their money long term as long as you stay sharp and don't start playing shit hands like them in a tilt.Is that good enough? Mark ass tricks posting for the first time, then dissing the community on the second post. Yeah, good long term plan idiot.

Seriously. Some people would pay if you called next time you're sitting at this table.

*raises hand*Get the $ in bigger and earlier. I hate when the sober, unlucky, good players leave early. Who else am I going to exploit?

Twoblink,You have to adjust your game based on whom you are playing (expirence, how good they are, their playhing style, etc.)Forum members who have said to adjust your game to play tighter are correct.
TIGHTER OMFG ARE YOU NUTS? I'm shipping any second pair in this game and not giving it a second thought. OMG the advice.
