  1. Tiger made 99 million dollars last year alone. I doubt that a five million dollar bet is going to worry him much. If Ivey did in fact make or accept this challenge, he is a complete moron. Tiger will crush him even putting with his driver. Tiger could drive and putt with an axe and kick Ivey butt.
  2. While Ungar is clearly the best player of the pack at the moment, I think Hachem may prove to be a better player. He is just awesome. In the last two years, his accomplishments (ME Champ, WPT champ, high finishes) is as good as any player in the game. He has taken some horrid beats in big tournaments, otherwise, he would have accomplished more. He always seems to get his money in with the best hand, and people just either out flop him or suck out. His ability to lead in hands where the money is all in is one of the indications of his outstanding ability.
  3. Dude, are you really from Somerville. I lived there for two years on Beacon while attending HLS. Hope you are staying warm.
  4. "1. If we had found vast caches of WMD's in Iraq, would the current environment in Iraq be any less violent? Would we be more patient with it?2. Are the Iraqis that are attacking and killing each other and Americans motivated about the fact that no WMD's were found? 3. Would the US have felt less-obligated to nation-build in Iraq IF we had found WMD's?"Lets take a crack at these questions given your premises.1. If we had found vast caches of WMD's in Iraq, would the current environment in Iraq be any less violent? Would we be more patient with it?Answer: Had we found vast caches of WMD it wo
  5. I agree with what you're saying. Daniel wanting to see lots of flops and slow playing are two very different things. With one, you can lay it down, with the other you go broke if you're opponent flops big as was the case. I would have played it differently, but I can't say that DN's play was bad. There is some logic to slow playing a big hand late in a tournament when you need to really start to accumulate chips, but I think survival is still paramount. I liken it to the way Hachem would the ME. He was patient and short-stacked until the cards gave him the opportunity to pounce.
  6. I posted saying that I would have played the hand differently. I was not critical of the way DN played it; there's logic to that play. My main reason for playing aces aggressively, especially after there has been an aggressive raise as in the actual hand, is that I want to test the strength of my opponent's hand so that I get some information. Most of the time, if I make an aggressive raise with AA, my opponent will fold, which would have been the case on this hand. If my opponent calls my raise, I would be concerned that he has a very strong hand, and can make a lay down on the flop if ne
  7. Daniel: This reply is no diss, but I would have played it differently than you did. After Medic raised, I would have made a healthy re-raise. He may have called since he had such a large chip advantage over you. If he called, you would have been busted anyway with that flop. If he didn't call, you would have taken down a small, but not insignificant, pot. As you say, you were playing to see a lot of flops, so if you take this small pot pre-flop, you would have gotten more chips to see more flops with. I guess I don't believe in limping with aces especially when there is a raiser in the
  8. Dude, I have no problem with your skepticism, but try to keep it healthy rather than letting it degenerate into personal attacks and inappropriate comments. The poster is obviously stating his/her opinion albeit in conclusory fashion.
  9. Sick is as sick does. I like the word sick. Its kinda like the word "dude". It can have many meanings. Lets all fight to keep the word "sick" alive in our poker lexicon.
  10. When Daniel won player of the year in 2004, he had 8764 points. That was a phenomenal year. I don't think Mizrachi will get to that many points, but he will win the POY. Anyone think Mizrachi can surpass DN's performance in 2004?
  11. There's a great deal we can do about it. We don't need to do it alone, but we should lead the effort. We can certainly put together a coalition of international forces and use international pressure to protect the innocent and punish the wrongdoers. It worked in the old Yugoslavia. The evil ones from that conflict are even being tried and convicted for war crimes. The situation may be a little different in Darfur because the murderers are harder to identify, but just because the mission is difficult doesn't mean we wouldn't be able to succeed.I think it was President Roosevelt who stated:
  12. OP: "I'm not saying that I like or dislike Bush, but he has handled the situation well."Would you care to explain to me how Bush has handled the Darfur situation well? He really hasn't done much of anything to my knowledge, but please do illuminate me.
  13. Very good analysis. DN must have thought the guy had A, Q, similar hand or a smaller pair to call off all of his chips here.
  14. Tough one. If this guy was trapping with two pair, this is a weird way to do it. He could have gotten a flush draw on the turn given that he checked and then called the raise. The river does absolutely nothing for him it would seem and wouldn't scare me given that there is no flush, although there is a str8 draw. He could have gotten his str8 on the turn and slow played it to the river. Any two pair beats us. A weak ace we can beat, but not much of anything else. I think I would fold not knowing anything about this player. Fold is my answer.
  15. Good luck JC. As Tiger Woods says on the first day of any event "You can't win the tournament on the first day, but you can surely lose it." Don't lose it, and hopefully you can accumulate some chips to mess with people.
