Brushing Up On My Sng Strategy

I play micro limit sngs and have been winning at them since god knows when, however I still look at my plays and im not 100% happy with how I played certain hands especially post flop. I dont think sng's allow too much post flop play really, especially not compared to cash games. I just wondered if anyone has and links to a strategy or a Q+A page about micro limit sngs. I know all the basics and how to play them profitably but I want to get better and wondered where I should look.

There was a good thread on 2+2. I would have to search. But another thing that I have been told helps a lot is something like Sit and Go Power Tools - SNGPT. Was wondering if anyone has used this or one of the other similar tools - and if it is worth it.

I've gone back to SNGs recently (especially HU - f'n gold mines) without going into a lot of detail I favour a rock-solid approach for the first few levels when the blinds don't matter as much and then going loosey-goosey when you have built yourself a lovely tight image and taking the blinds when they represent a large % of your stack and most of the idiot players have already been eliminated.I know the second school of thought is playing lots of hands at the low levels and building a stack but if you're playing lots of hands and therefore missing lots of flops you're just leaving yourself in trouble for the later stages imo.If you want postflop play in a tournie situation then HU SNGs are the way forward!

I'm pretty sure that SNG Power Tools is an ICM calculator which will tell you whether it is correct to push/fold/call at the later stages of a SNG. As for the entire strategy for SNGs, you should be able to find some resources. I know that I use pokerxfactor and there are a ton of SNG videos that go over strategy that has transformed my SNG game. I won a WSOP seat on pokerstars step system on my 4th try for $7.50 ($30 total).

Thanks. I didn't necessarily post for bragging. Basically, SNGs are not real "poker". They are a battle for blinds as the blinds move up. Basically, if the effective stack is 10BB or less, you should be in push/fold mode. Standard raising is just not acceptable because you can't afford to let someone call you with some kind of suited connector or JT-type hands and miss the flop with your AQ.

One thing you have to realize is that much of what you read about SnG strategy only applies to a certain degree at the micro limits because most players at those levels don't play the way they're "supposed to" play. You basically have to learn to adjust what you read to the micro limits, and then readjust as you start to move up.

I think looking for hands and information on here and other forums are your best bet. Here and cardplayer are where I frequent and there is an abundance of information at both sites. Also make sure you take all the information and tweak them to make it your own.
