Merge Bans Player And Seizes $1500

Recommended Posts

I haven't been here in a while but I thought this topic was important enough for you all to know.Within the past few days a players funds were seized and he was banned from all merge sites. The players name is Maggic612. If you have never heard of this player before here is a link to his BlogTv show he does nightly while playing poker online. When you go to the link the video u can play is him reading the letter that was sent to him by Merge. http://www.blogtv.com/People/PokerStarsIsAScamI have been a loyal follower of his show for the past 2 years. He plays MTT's , some SNGs. The whole reason for him doing the show is to prove that the legitamacy of the RNG's should be questioned. He has posted numerous videos on youtube showing himself playing Stars and some of the ridiculous and repetitive bad beats he takes. He has never cheated or colluded. All of his money won has been done so honestly and fairly.Merge has said he was colluding yet they have offered no proof of this. They also say he was illegally infringing on their trademark. While they do have a case when it comes to the trademark. They gave no warning, and seized his money which amounts to around $1500.The reason I felt this was an important subject to post was that it shows at any moment in time an offshore site can seize your funds and ban you without a warning or proof. Just be careful folks. Yet another reason we need regulation.

He was streaming his games live. Even though he covered his cards, he often said what his cards were during the course of the hand and also announced what his intended actions were. He obviously can't do that. It's strictly against the rules to discuss your hand during the course of a hand especially over any electronic media. Banning him was kind of a no-brainer. Also I wouldn't put such faith in regulation. The assumption that regulators will be there for the players is just that, an assumption. How well the regulators do their job in all likelihood is going to largely be measured by how many cheaters they ban from the games. The regulators are also going to have much stronger ties to the casinos than they are the players. And just because they are going to have much tougher laws against cheating doesn't mean that they are going to be any better at distinguishing cheaters from non-cheaters than do the current sites. In California the proposals have been draconian as far as players go. I'm not sure what is in the current proposal but I know that they have been proposing a "click your mouse, lose your house" clause. In other words anyone who makes a living playing poker and is caught playing at a non-regulated site or a site outside the state can lose everything that they own and then on top of that be fined up to $10,000. The player could be caught just by cashing a check. Also a player banned from one site can be permanently banned from playing online poker whatsoever.

I'm just wondering how he successfully convinced anyone the RNG isn't legitimate by... showing himself getting bad beats? Don't any of his followers, i don't know, play the game?
