tourney strategy

Recommended Posts

Looking for some advice of how best to play a live tourney I'm in on Sunday.I won a satellite to a $150 buy in tourney, 50 players max (freezeout). The reason I usually don't play tourneys at this casino is due to their structures. The starting stack is usually $1000and the blinds $25-50 to start, so I always feel short stacked, unless I can get lucky and double through early. What's the best way to approach this thing, should I play tight right from the start, orloose to try and get some chips early on??

What's the best way to approach this thingLike you have 20bb. You should be making most of your important decisions on the flop. The implied odds aren't great for drawing hands, but also allow you to force small PPs to make a bad call to look to flop a set against your better hands.Steal blinds. A lot.
