Would you make this call

Recommended Posts

MP2 gave me crap for making this call but he had exactly what I expected and I'd do it again. Actually I taunted him back with some fishy lines hoping to tilt him.I think I played it ok except maybe for the call on the turn. pre-flop, fine.three-bet the flop. you're doing it for value and for a free card. you're getting good enough odds to call two cold, but cold-calling sucks. three-bet it.if you had three-bet, it might have been checked to you on the turn where you can check to get a free card.given that you didn't, calling the turn is okay.aseem
ummm, how is getting 5-1 on a gut shot w/overcard, of which the club cards are dirty, getting "good enough" odds to continue. this is some bad advice IMO

whoops, thought he was open-ended.my bad.aseem
even if he was open ended, it'd still be a fold since two of the outs are dirty, and then it'd have to be a cold call, since you'd want to encourage other cold callers to come in behind you, puts extra implied odds on your draw

Yeah, I'd normally fold the flop except against these two. Both were prone to bluffing at pots. Of course I missed the two clubs on the flop at the time too. Thinking back on it CO was probably on a club draw.As for doing it again I was talking only about the call on the river. The way MP2 was playing I felt pretty strongly that at best he had a small pair which the board contefeited with the Qs and Js and the best kicker would win. Though I should have been out of the pot well before then. Thanks for the feedback.

That's insane. Even against two maniacs, you don't beat an A-high bluffer. You might have 5 outs to improve (non-club Ts and Ks) to the best hand, if the K isn't reverse dominated. You are getting 5-1 odds in the pot (assuming MP2 doesn't reraise), and it's a pretty big stretch to say you are getting 9-1 implied odds. Start folding hands like this to two cold on the flop or you will lose lots of money.

Your flop call was atrocious.Your turn call might have been as bad.Your river call was fine.He played this hand like a medium pocket pair, and I make these calls frequently and get mocked for them. But you played the hand SO BAD up to then then you deserve to be castrated, so my children don't have to deal with questions like this in 2035. :)Ice
