I Called In Sick Today

This final season has been thoroughly unfunny. But it definitely used to have some solid laughs

You can tell that Zooey having kids and Jake Johnson getting big famous have hurt the show. Just doesn’t have the same energy as it did in its prime. Megan Fox is pretty awful at acting.

and after 3 days, he is risen!

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

Is she back? I am only one episode behind this season

Even Cici is just acting so weird. The three guys were the staples. Relationship/daddy Schmidt ain’t cutting it. Winston is the highlight at this point

The house is mine (provided they get a house under contract by July 1 and if they don't theres some small monetary penalties to me).

It's very strange to me that YOU have to pay if THEY don't find a house. Screw that. I bought this place, get the crap out.

Brv, are all your kids looking to be financially smart? Some personalities, that’s never going to happen, not really the fault of the parent IMO.

I would say that my oldest three are above average. My 19-year-old has a Vanguard 2060 (VTTSX) with about 7.5k in it. He puts in $100 every two weeks. However, he likes to buy xbox games and going out to eat with his friends, which makes me a little nervous since he hasn't saved up for a future wedding ring, an emergency fund, a house, a car, etc. To top all that off, in two weeks he is going on a 3 week trip to Japan, China, and Mongolia with some friends at college. I told him that aside from the expense, he's got to think about how much he's losing in potential earnings as a cost of the trip as well, but in the end, I told him that my friend Ron would be pissed if I told him he couldn't have the experience because I wanted him to make money. I'm sure he'll love it. That being said, I'm most worried about him, because he has "that personality".

My 17 year old girl is probably too frugal. She hordes money like a mo-fo. She works at Culvers and has never had a shake there, for instance, even though she loves shakes. Instead, she comes home and eats leftovers. She has around 2.2k in a Vanguard 2065 fund (VLXVX). She also has around 1k in an emergency fund. She was worried about doing taxes in the future so I had her do the taxes for a friend that I was doing them for. She did a fine job and only got confused figuring out the Obamacare stuff (Form 8962) because this particular person only had health coverage for 4 months in 2017, which made everything a lot more complex.

My 15-year-old boy likes electronics, computers, and games a little too much, and he's going to sink a lot of money into those things, but he just got his first job and only has a few hundred bucks to his name. He cares about money though and is anxious to start his vanguard account like his siblings, so I'm not worried about him.

My two youngest have no clue about anything financial.

By the way, Napa. I want an invite to your ribfest, and I'm serious about helping you with things. I would enjoy hanging out, so it's not like you're putting me out or something.

Working from home more and more. They moved this girl, basically the CEO’s personal assistant, to the cube next to me, and she is absurdly loud and typically stops working (to talk loudly with whoever) at 4:30 every day. I could just be a dick and enforce ground rules for interrupting me when it looks like I’m working, but I would rather not go there.

The problem is, a lot of people at my company judge productivity by physical presence in the office...

kindred spirits my man because i just got home for an afternoon of work. most days there is no real reason to go in, but like you said you can't just abandon the office altogether. either way though, i'm doing this more and more going forward.

Good job with the kids, Brvy. I was never good at that stuff. Fortunately my wife isn’t playing that crap. She has shown me the light. We still spend and do stuff, but after we save some.

We are going a tad overboard with the new house, but it kinda needs it; so, that is that.

Stay flush with cash, Napa. That’s my new home ownership advice. Especially if you like shit the way you like it.

Luckily in this market, any money you put in your house could come back to you 10-fold.

Counter-point: This market isn't going to last.

The only reason essay had to leave the house is now gone

This isn't gonna turn out well

honestly, my preference would be to never go outside. there's just nothing out there, for me, in the world, at all.

Well, lucky for you, Jesus is in your house, so, technically, you're right.

i'm super glad i worked from home this afternoon. they called an emergency meeting at 430 for one of my most annoying relationships. i would have lost my cool if i'd still been at the office, suffocating in that shirt and neck tie. instead i was home, in my sweats, lying in bed, laughing at it all.

Might need my lawyer to file suit for me. I startle super easy at work because I get hyper focused on whatever I’m working on and people take advantage of this. Usually, by just making a loud noise or purposely sneaking up on me, which, I really wish they wouldn’t but whatever, but sometimes they’ll fvcking grab my shoulders and shake me and I’ve said repeatedly to “not fvcking do that” and to “please don’t touch me” but they persist! And these are dudes. Today I was scratching my back and somebody said “let me get that for you!” And started scratching my back and I almost flipped out.

I can't imagine working at any business where people regularly touched me on purpose. I would probably just quit.

I think you need to take some of your coworkers out for a night of drinking and wrestling and chest shitting. Let them know you are a beast not a house pet. Is it better to be feared or loved? In my view, it's a spectrum. Too heavy in either direction encourages negative behaviors which lead to negative results. Right now, you're too far on the on the loved spectrum. Even better if one of the perpetrators isn't particularly popular in the office. You don't want to be seen taking down the class favorite but shit on the right chest or two and the imbalance will be corrected.

Well he does have an album (or two) about to drop but I'm sure you're right. He doesn't care if they sell. If there is anything rich people hate it's getting richer.

such a cynic.

I would also like to say that I think there is/was some low grade cocaine psychosis going on. The longer this behavior goes on, the more I think this. I remember a few years ago when he was going on twitter rampages and stuff it all seemed pretty indicative of a long running heavy coke habit then he "rested" for a few weeks and his behavior normalized.

I don’t want anything to do with these people.

I have reason to suspect my boss will be leaving soon. Saw a meeting on his calendar with a recruiter of another bank. Will certainly be something if he leaves.

I am so confused as to why he’d put that on a calendar you can see.

Angling for a raise from his boss? Doesn’t imagine anybody is so interested in his calendar/would think to google who he is having a call with? Don’t know. I just know the first result for “this persons name Minneapolis” was recruiter for bank that I checked and has an opening for a CFO of a business line. And he’s told me numerous times how much of a paycut he took to work here because at the time he just needed a job and how he doesn’t care for (and vice versa) a certain member of the C-team.

But it could be something completely innocuous, too. I just know if he does I might use it as a reason to try and find a better job myself.
