Pad Dream Table

Recommended Posts

After seeing both Poker After Dark dream tables, I decided to make a topic where people can choose their own six-handed dream table to play at. Obviously, your normal dream table would be a bunch of clueless fish, but in this case, what pros would you love to play against and why? I am sorry if this topic has been done before and I dunno if this is an appropriate forum for it. But hey.My dream table:1. Antonio Esfandiari - After watching HSP I have such a huge amount of respect for his cash game, he isn't just a tournament player. He is a great reader of the game and he makes some great plays, really intuitive player. Also, he seems like such a nice guy as well I would genuinely like to meet him.2. Phil Laak - It seems like most people either love him or hate him, and I love him (but not like that.) The main reason I have chosen him is that the very best and most entertaining poker shows like PAD are the ones that have Phil and Antonio at the table, it is just so much fun to watch! I just think you'd have such a great time playing with these two. If you pick Antonio, you HAVE to have Phil in there as well. :)3. Daniel Negreanu- Everyone will pick this guy I am sure! One of my all time favourite players. Has a great style of play and seems like a really nice guy, also a certain amount of amusing chemistry between him, Antonio and Phil. Yeah, I know it seems like I am choosing players judging on who will be the most fun, but hey.4. Erick Lindgren- He is an absolutely fantastic player! I loved watching him play the HORSE final table and wanted him to win so bad! He was excellent at the mixed Hold 'em final table with some great plays in the Limit Hold 'em rounds. Also, he is another player I would love to meet, such a nice guy, or at least he seems that way. Plus it would be fun watching him spar with Negreanu!5.Sammy Farha- He is insane. I would love to play with him, I want to learn a successful super loose-aggressive style and he is the man to ask. He either seems to bust out in 10 seconds or completely kill the game and win every single pot and bluff everyone out of the hand. This may seem like a strange choice. I mean, I didn't go for my all time poker heroes like Doyle Brunson, Chip Reese (R.I.P) or Stu Ungar (R.I.P.) The reason is that I think on a show like PAD the players need to have a certain chemistry between each other for it to be good to watch. Don't get me wrong, it's a poker show and I love to watch great poker being played as much as the next guy, but when they just sit there in silence it can be SO BORING!!!I watched the Mayfair Club week and I actually had to check my pulse to make sure I wasn't dying of boredom. Sometimes they make real bad selections on PAD. Obviously I would love to play with Doyle, Barry etc. and all the greats, but I thought that would be the standard generic choice everyone makes. Not only are these guys amazing poker players, but I think this table would be fantastic to watch on TV. Plenty of banter and table talk as well as some insane play. TAG style poker is a good way to play, but let's face it, it isn't the best style to watch. I mean listening to Ali Nejad say "The Big Blind takes a walk" for the 33rd time in a row can get a little boring imo. These guys are all great players, but the main reason I chose them is that I would genuinely love to meet all of them and I think I'd have a real good time.

Nothing wrong with picking people based off of chemistry -- the Sims-like aspect of the dream table is the best part!Mine would probably be:Daniel Negreanu - obviouslyMike Matusow - really funny chemistry between him and Negreanu.Phil Hellmuth - really fun to watch, especially when in the same game as the two above.Phil Ivey - the chance of outplaying this guy is very small, but if I don't include him, it's zero. Why miss the chance to play with the greatest?Jennifer Harman - she doesn't say as much, but I still think the chemistry between her and Matusow, Hellmuth, and obviously Daniel is good.Possibly replace the last two with Laak and Esfandiari. I love watching those guys together.Another possibility would be to make the loosest, craziest table possible:Sammy Farha - absolutely astounding player, love this guyEli Elezra - also really loose, great chemistry with SammyDaniel Negreanu - doesn't come across as the most aggressive player, but he does play alot of hands. Possibly replace him with IveyGus Hansen - no explanation neededJamie Gold - I CALL I CALL I CALL I CALL I C-- (etc) Love him or hate him, you gotta admit he spices up a gameOf course, that table would be pretty terrifying! Well, both would be.

Here is mine in no particular order:1) Daniel Negreanu2) Phil Ivey3) Doyle Brunson4) Chip Reese (Rip)5) MyselfI would also like my dream table to be a mix game rather then NLHE, but I would settle for NLHE. I think it would be a good learning experience which is the only reason I watch poker lately.

Daniel Negreanu - of course though I think I'd easily lose to him since he reads people so well.Erik Lindgren - very nice player, has a lot of classMike Matusow - I know people dislike him but I find him funny as hell. Phil Helmuth - He's such a funny guy especially with Matusow at the tableJamie Gold or if it's permitted Gabe Kaplan - Jamie is another one that makes the table more interesting but I also love Gabe Kaplan (just don't know if you'd consider him a pro or not)

Really? Great plays and nice guy? The guy exudes Doucheyness and is pretty much a donkey, especially at cash games. ROCKS AND RINGS!
