Just wondering-

Player's names must be spelled correctly, both first and last or you will risk not getting credit for that player. Nicknames or short forms will not be accepted.
Does this mean entering "Phil Hellmuth" instead of "Phillip Hellmuth" or "Huck Seed" instead of "Huckleberry Seed" pr "Freddy Deeb" instead of "Kasseem Deeb" or "Sammy Farha" instead of "Ihsan Farha" or "Antonio Esfandiari" instead of "Amir Esfandiari" is a DQ? I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this, and why this rule might need a little clarification.(I am so entering this- and will win...)

So how do we actually make our selections?

Anyway, the only thing that kinda sucks about 10 players is it forces to you to either seriously gamble it up with lesser knowns and hope to hit big, thus pulling away from the pack, or it forces everyone to play the same 10 guys since you cannot risk Ivey final tabling and having 9/10ths of the field move ahead of you. Like, who *isn't* picking Allen Cunningham...IMO, some sort of a tier system ala the FCP fantasy league, or allowing 20-30 players, would've been better and allowed for a little more 'game'.

I could've picked Cunningham?! Wait I did.I agree about everyone picking a lot of the same names but I don't think it will be that close. I'm sure I have about 5-6 names on my list that will be on a lot of others, Negreanu, Hellmuth, Cunningham, Ivey. It's really bad for a fantasy league taht everyone is going to pick a good percentage of the same people but I just tried to look at overall results like everyone probably will. It will really boil down to the last 3-4 people on your list that pull through somewhere along the tourney schedule.

I picked Negreanu, Hellmuth, Cunningham and Ivey as well. I believe that I gambled and picked one player who hasn't won a bracelet yet.

I picked 3 guys without bracelets and a guy with one bracelet but he won't be one of the 'herd picks'. I didn't pick Ivey, so my entire team basically hinges on him not hitting, as if he does, I'm behind 95% of the field as soon as it happens.

The old contest was great. (Couple of years ago.) I think you got 20 players and then ranked them...which made the whole thing more complicated, but it left for a lot more nuance.

Bob are you going to show a leader board? Or somehow shows how everyone is doing?
We should be updating the standings in this forum.

Basically the spelling rule is there to try and keep as many people as possible using the "standard" way that a player is known and to use the real name as opposed to nicknames. We'll be using an excel set up that searches to match names to track the results and the less changes we have to make to what people have entered the better. If somebody makes an honest spelling mistake and lets us know we can go in and fix it.

We realize that picking only 10 names is a bit simple but that's exactly the way it has to be. The pool from 2 years ago had Darrell basically working on it full time for the entire series and we just weren't going to have something that was going to take somebody a huge amount of time to run.It was a question of a fairly simple pool or no pool at all.

Oh, I don't mean to be ungrateful. I'm happy to have something this year as opposed to last year when we didn't have anything. I understand what a huge undertaking it must've been. It's my preference to have that system, but thank you for having this one.

Whoever's picking Ivey is making a bad move. You know what Ivey does around WSOP time. He plays the big cash games filled with tourney donks. Ivey only comes out to play 1 or 2 events, so good luck trying to get points off of him.Oh yes, and all in favor of chipsets being listed as a prize say I.I.

Anyone have a list handy? I have a general team set up, but I don't want to go through "dammit! I forgot all about him!" And theres definitely a lot of guys I will forget about unless reminded

Try checking out CardPlayer's POY standings for the past few years.

Or check out FTP's fantasy draft list.Next year gimme a heads up a month or two in advance for how you want to work the contest and I can whip up a program (web based) that'll work more like FTP's (a list of people to pick and rank) and make calculating the points as easy as entering the names of the final 16. Kinda too late to do it for this year though.

You have a point, but he usually still plays the bigger events.

Is there a link that shows everyone's picks??
Nothing will be shown before the deadline for submitting picks.Any teams that win something will be published and as well we may publish the leading teams as the Series progresses so that you know who you are trying to catch.

Anyone want to juice this up a bit and stick $50 each in a fund,Winner takes all?
In a nanosecond if we had a tier system or more 20-30 picks.A 10 pick system, no way.If you want to set up side action that uses a superior system, I'm 100% in for a $50.
