Id shove, cause I cant imagine just c/f and wouldnt want to let him take a free card with ATh or something, but again im a limit player so my advice is normally gonna be more aggressively than most NL players.Nice to have you back btw.

Anyone bet more on the flop?Makes the turn easier, obv, but I'd like a little more protection with what is probably the best hand.I'm thinking maybe like $28. If he calls, that would make the pot $90 on the turn, and he'd have $40 left, so our turn bet would still only give him 3.25-1, which is still giving incorrect odds to a 1 card flush draw, or an oesd or whatever. Or would you guys rather play it as played, offering him worse odds on the turn, as well as still giving bad odds on the flop? It's a concept of NL I haven't thought much about yet.

I believe the best line is to overbet the flop. He's got 68 dollars after the preflop call of 14. 34 dollar pot, There is nothing to get fancy with.I believe this is a big part of No Limit that isnt utilized to its ability even by highly established players. In this situation, most of the time, he called on the button with a weaker holding. He bought in extremely short. A10-AQ, 1010-KK, J10-KQ. if he picks up anything on the turn as far as a redraw or additional outs he's going with it.Anyone disagree with just pushing on the flop, this kind of situation only of course?

Hypothetically, for a great player, is this the benefit of buying into a game short? Im going to take your lead, we dont know that he would call with a worse hand if we shove, so we have to find the middle ground of letting him incorrectly put his money in, even though I think this is extremely difficult and just asking for a mistake on our part, since he's so short stacked.A bet of 28-32, and then check/call? What do we learn from betting this amount that we dont learn from betting just half the pot if he calls? He has position, his range is going to be wide. Bet 18-20 on flop. Bet it in relation to how you would bet KK or QQ in this situation. Then hammer turn?

i like betting an even number very close but less than the size of the pot. here i would bet $30. i feel bets like this tend to get called more. i have no evidence for this though, it could be in my head.

yes. you will mostly get called when you are beat and fold hands that you beat which you would like to call.

im not a fan at all about overshoving on the flop here. one of the plays i like to make that takes after nerd poker is the weak lead, i notice how Zach mentioned how small my bet looks, and yes it could be around 30 or pot. but when you play shortstacks, they love to try bold brave plays like shoving all in. so when i bet 23 here, i almost expect a shove by QJ offsuit or something of that nature. furthermore by betting 23 instead of around 30, we encourage very bad hands to call on a hope that i am taking a weak stab. all in all, betting less rather then overshoving is, in my view, a much better play.

will he push if you check ? cos you're not folding TPTK for 20 bb whatever the flop is against a short stackSo I check if he pushes when sensing weakness, but usually I think it is an easy push

I like the weak lead the best, if that's exactly how you would play KK, QQ, or any other hand vs shortstack. But, I like a lead of 1/3 pot. it really is a tricky bet if you are able to make it consistently.(despite how it looks in print)That's the part I was having trouble expressing. Vs an astute shortstack(not saying this opponent is), what do we really learn about his hand if he calls 23?, What infomation do we collect if repops on flop? It's a dicey situation. That's why I think for this special situation vs short stack, utilizing a protective tournament strategy is the best. There's nothing to really be afraid of, its very unlikely this situation comes up with frequency(short stacks tend to repop preflop with hands we are worried about here.) So the -ev approach of pushing still seems like the best route to me, until I learn someone's reasoning better. It opens the door for you to select some other hands to push with in other spots. And over the course of a session, you set up villian to overvalue, or gamble with you.

Yes.

I agree with Zach that a PSB on the flop is probably better. The turn is where you just hold your breath and push. The pot's too big and his stack's too small to be thinking about check-folding. Just hope he has AT or AJ and doesn't get there.

results are i put him all in on turn and he called with 888. glad he didnt have more $, i could have easily gotten stacked if he had raised me on the flop and i put him on a draw or something of that sort.

I'd shove here. If he's got a flush oh well...he'll call you with a smaller ace probably as well. TJ is also possible but even if u shove, you've made a profit on the hand because he was drawing and didn't have the correct implied odds. If you're going to call a shove, you might as well shove. Betting pot or a little under on flop is also a good move.
