  1. Here's the situation. Borgata $50,000 guarantee. $250+$30. Starting stacks $6000. Blinds start at $25-$50 with no ante. 7th hand I am in the big blind. Two seats to my left raises pre-flop to $200. Everyone folds to me. I have pocket kings and make it $600 to go. He calls. $1225 in pot preflop. Flop comes 10, 7, 2 with 2 diamonds. I have the king of diamonds. I lead out for $1000. Pot now has $2225. He says "i'll take a shot" and moves it all in. I call. He shows AJ of diamonds. 11 outs. 3 aces and 8 flush cards as I have one of the diamonds. Cardplayer says on the flop I am
  2. Can anybody recommend a quality automatic cardshuffler and where to buy it? I'm assuming the shufflemaster ones aren't available retail.Thanks.
  3. Did anyone pick up on Daniel's tell last night on the WPT? I'll let everyone guess for a while then I'll tell you what I'm talking about. Daniel if you're out there and you say the word I won't spill the beans. Just thought this would make for a good discussion.
  4. Nickel's face was cut up a bit at the end. When the Matador's lawyer was talking to reporters at the end I don't recall seeing the Matador's face looking like he took a beating. Anyways just wanted everyone's opinion on that.
  5. i just do it different....for example i know enough to always leave myself outs in a tougher game...like a redraw for a flush heads up with the nut straight and your lone opponent has the same hand. it's a free roll for his half of the pot. anyways all i was getting at before was whether i deserved to be made fun of by the losers.
  6. I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on my 2-4 and 3-6 bm strategy. At a certain indian casino at new york state i have never lost money. I sit down at 2-4 or 3-6 and within the first 5 hands or so i realize there is no threat of a pre-flop raise at the table. Based on this information I loosen up my starting hand requirements quite a bit. Then I get criticized by the table for winning pots with hands I shouldn't be playing. One person told me "he didn't think it was the player" implying i was lucky to win the pots I was winning. This was 2 hands after I laid down trips to a straight
  7. I am not sure the optimal strategy for the style of home game my frineds and I have fell into. I personally don't like it but haven't said anything yet. Anyways we generally have a $20 by in winner take all tournament. Fair enough...but we only start out with $20-$30 in chips with blinds at $1 and $2 . the blinds increase to $2 and $4, then $3 and $6 and then $5 and $10. There really is no method to increasing the blinds as far as time goes. When it feels like it's time..we raise the blinds. Anyways the game generally plays out like this. I play very tight early. (My friends will limp
  8. Mr. Demetriou,Thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas with us in this forum. It means a lot to the fans, when someone such as yourself, reminds us of the "real person" aspect of your persona. With that said, I've got a few questions regarding the Poker Players Association. 1. Why does poker need a unifying body in the first place? Is it because the players feel used by the media and feel that unfair restrictions are being placed on their earning potential?2. If so a Poker Assocation would have clout enough to accept or deny the terms of the tournament and force the media into a tak
  9. I hope all of you realize that Josh Arieh is going to stop posting on this forum if all that people do is bust on him....Why not recognize an opportunity for what it is.....a great opportunity to talk about poker with a man that's sat at the final table of the WSOP main event. WSOP bracelets and final tables are just fantasy to us. They represent hours of daydreams, turns in life's roads that we should have taken, the girl we should have called, the retort we should have said, the job that we should have quit. This man is living the dream. We have our safe little worlds that we live in.
  10. Since I don't have 10 grand to enter the big buyin tourney's yet, I am relegated to Super Satellite land for now. I'm looking for any insights/tips regarding strategy. Specifically how to navigate my way through the field to maximize my chances. Feel free to break down your advice in the various tournament stages as follows. Thanks.Early RoundsMiddle RoundsLate RoundsFinal TableHeads Up
  11. Josh, Thanks for the reply. You are right....it is a tough decision. I've either got balls or I don't. That's the crux of the issue. I've always wondered what the pros did about the insurance and retirement stuff...but I guess I never thought of it like a "real" job. But it's good to see you've got your stuff together on that front. As for the WSOP stuff....I can't believe all the people that are telling you to get your act together...let's video tape them for a week and tell them every time they screwed up. If ESPN would replay it 12 million times everyone would have gotten over it.
  12. Listen Josh I don't think you are a jerk in much the same way I don't think Hellmuth is a jerk. I can relate to the fire both of you have. Hell it ain't worth doing if it doesn't get the blood up. But anyways I've got a question for you and maybe Daniel may have some input as well. I hate my job. I love poker. I make alot of dough and every day I fantasize about quitting and making a go at it (poker that is). My problem is how do I rationalize leaving my salary, my benefits, and my retirement. Also as a poker pro what do you do about health insurance, saving for retirement, etc. Any
