I have a lot of free time over the next couple of months so I've set myself a challenge.I may not reach the end, if I start to drop a bunch of money I may end up quitting, or at least changing the nature of the challenge.I'll use this thread for daily updates. This forum could use some content.Anyway...70 days 50kOn May 27th I leave on a plane to travel to a mystical far away place (the United States of America) to stay there for a little over a month, mostly in Las Vegas for the WSOP.Between now and then (Wednesday 17th March – Tuesday 25th May) I'm going to try and make $50000.How?From Tuesday through Friday and on Sunday I will play a set schedule of MTTs, mostly on Stars, from the 11 turbo at 12:15 EST until the Nightly 70k at 21:30 EST. I will play some super turbos on Full Tilt during the week and on Sunday I will play the majors there too. I will also play a lot of $36 and $12 180 man turbos on Stars. Monday will be a day off (barring special tournaments – eg -SCOOP) and Saturday will be a day to play cash games (5/10-15/30 6max Limit Holdem). In addition to this I also plan to start doing 8-10 mile bike rides before every session, weather permitting. Why? I need to stop being lazy, get in volume and make some money. I also need to get exercising else I'm going to start putting on weight. I hope this challenge will bring some much needed structure to my days and help me get sleeping regular hours. Some other goals:Top 100 TLB in MarchTop 50 TLB in April and May.Reach 100k VPP (33.8k to start)I estimate I will invest around $50000 in 180 man buy-ins and $67000 in MTT buy-ins (including SCOOP). On top of that, I aim to play around 15000-20000 cash game hands. Schedules will be somewhat flexible and I may find myself giving up after a while if I can't stand to play another hand. The $ goal is probably more than what I can expect to make. It's just a nice round sounding number to aim for. I could find myself getting there with one score (either on a Sunday or in SCOOP). If so I will continue to do this challenge (altered), though I may take a day or two off.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Qyayqi: to get to the wsop, i'd have to win $10k+ by the end of may. so... my challenge is to get to $15k by the end of may.i'll be mostly playing 45turbos, some mttturbos, and some larger stuff on absolute where i have dusty money that i can use for shot-taking. to get there, i'll obviously have to move up the 45t buyin ladder.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Trueace13:Goals:- Make $10k by june 10th (this is actually grossing 20k before splitting w/backer)- Play strictly mtts- Do hh sessions w/ friends- Play sessions with only a few tables so I can strictly focus on those tables- Stop browsing forums and internet when grinding- Only play when I'm motivated to playReason for this:- I am sick of being depressed about my makeup- I believe that I need motivation to play more focused and not just seem like i'm clicking buttons- I really need money and I believe that I feel this is a feasible goal while also having to go to class

Day 1-Wednesday 17th MarchDay 1 began promisingly. I started earlier than planned with the $8 rebuy and accumulated a huge stack. I was top 5 in chips from 200 left down to around 50 when I ran top pair into a set for a monster pot followed by KQ < AQ BB vs BTN. I wound up finishing 28th. After that things went horribly in MTTs, pretty much bricking every single one except a little over a min cash in a $22 freezeout. I can't remember getting much of a stack anywhere, I seemed to lose every all in.12 180s went well. I won the first I played then proceeded to do no better than min cash for around my next 50. To kinda of save my day, I won another later on. I played 66 in total, cashed only 7, and profited $540.36 180s went awfully, I bricked 17 straight and stone bubbled the last one to wipe out my 12 180 profit. Variance is fun.TotalsMTTBuy ins: $953.15Profit : -$817.17180sBuy ins : $1404Profit : -$69.48Overall Profit: -$948.65Total VPPS ~1020 -34400 totalPosition in Monthly TLB - 586th with 3314 points - 100th has 4433It's a shitty day when you win 2 tournaments and still come out in the red. Really shitty. Some analysis of the TLB:Based on previous months, a top score 100 is usually around 5300 points. I currently have 3314. A $12 180 win counts for 275 points and a 36 for 338 (I currently have 1 36 win and 3 12 wins this month). 20 scores in total count. If I were to win 16 more $12 180s (a reasonable possibility), and fail miserably in MTTs, I'd be up to 5400 points. I think top 100 is very achievable so long as I continue to put in a decent volume. With some MTT scores to back it up even higher may be possible.Today was a nasty start. To start off so well then to go about 10 hours with only 1 success of any note was tough. Stone bubbling the last 36 180 to go 0/17 in those was the toughest part. However, I remained calm and resolute for most of the day, only feeling slightly tilty for a couple of very short periods. I am still positive for the rest of the challenge and will feel fresh and ready to fight a new day tomorrow. On a positive note I got over $10k total $12 180 profit life time (only to dip back under slightly to end the day). Time to watch a movie and drift off to sleep.

Gonna try to update this post every couple of hours today and I'll try to find interesting hands. Day 2 - Thursday 18th March.5pm :Already busted about 16 180 mans without seeing even a bubble. This kind of run is standard for these things but it's never nice to start out like this. I have some decent potential in a couple running now. I late regged the 8R about 2 hours 30 and have about 25 BBs nearing the bubble. Nothing else of note, a bunch of MTTs start in the next couple of hours. so should get more interest then.It must be nice to be this guy!feral_cow_icon.gifFeral Cow PokerPokerStars No-Limit Hold'em ($20+$2) t50/t100 - 9 playersBB: t2,495 UTG: t3,195 UTG+1: t2,480 (Hero)MP: t1,883 MP2: t4,448 HJ: t3,450 CO: t2,635 Button: t8,250 SB: t4,084 Preflop: (t150) Hero is UTG+1 with Kh.gifAs.gif (9 players)UTG folds, Hero raises to t250, MP calls t250, MP2 folds, HJ calls t250, CO folds, Button raises to t999, 2 folds, Hero raises to t2480 and is all-in, MP calls t1633 and is all-in, HJ folds, Button calls t1481Flop: (t7,243) 9c.gif7c.gif8d.gif (3 players)Turn: (t7,243) 5d.gif (3 players)River: (t7,243) Th.gif (3 players)Hero showed Kh.gifAs.gif, and won (597) with high card AceMP showed Tc.gifJs.gif, and won (6049) with a straight, Seven to JackButton showed Ad.gifKc.gif, and won (597) with high card AceHero won t597MP won t6049Button won t597edit - gah bubbled 8R, Set < flush draw.5:21: Just gotta post this epic coinflipshakes 2000: posts small blind 600moyahuaz69: posts big blind 1200*** HOLE CARDS ***Dealt to Blue Baboon [7d 2h]lottosue: folds Lulach: raises 3600 to 4800osskid13: folds YUD1006: raises 30904 to 35704 and is all-inBlue Baboon: folds shakes 2000: folds moyahuaz69: folds Lulach: calls 12750 and is all-inUncalled bet (18154) returned to YUD1006*** FLOP *** [5c 5s 3s]*** TURN *** [5c 5s 3s] [2s]*** RIVER *** [5c 5s 3s 2s] [4s]YUD1006 said, "hahaha"*** SHOW DOWN ***Lulach: shows [As Qs] (a straight flush, Ace to Five)YUD1006: shows [3h 3c] (a full house, Threes full of Fives)YUD1006 said, "hahaha"Lulach collected 37775 from potYUD1006 said, "hahah"wow - 5 hands later..Lulach: posts small blind 800YUD1006: posts big blind 1600*** HOLE CARDS ***Dealt to Blue Baboon [6d 7c]Blue Baboon: folds moyahuaz69: folds lottosue: raises 15153 to 16753 and is all-inLulach: folds YUD1006: calls 15153*** FLOP *** [9h Jc 8s]*** TURN *** [9h Jc 8s] [Jd]*** RIVER *** [9h Jc 8s Jd] [Ks]*** SHOW DOWN ***YUD1006: shows [Jh Kh] (a full house, Jacks full of Kings)lottosue: shows [9d 9c] (a full house, Nines full of Jacks)YUD1006 collected 35056 from pot7pm7th in a 36 180.floradorp87: posts big blind 2000*** HOLE CARDS ***Dealt to Blue Baboon [Ks Kd]Dok2920: folds Blue Baboon: raises 13605 to 15605 and is all-indjb-50: folds lectriclips: calls 15605Andy Dvin: folds celtsbos34: folds floradorp87: folds *** FLOP *** [7h Jh Ah]*** TURN *** [7h Jh Ah] [5s]*** RIVER *** [7h Jh Ah 5s] [Qd]*** SHOW DOWN ***Blue Baboon: shows [Ks Kd] (a pair of Kings)lectriclips: shows [Kc Tc] (a straight, Ten to Ace)lectriclips collected 35610 from potfunat least I broke the streak. From 18 down I lost about 80% of all ins in that 180, no hope of winning. I think I shoved 10 pots in a row on the FT bubble and took down 9 uncontested.
Sigh, GG though. I need to learn how to run these 180 turbos. I keep getting 3 outted :club: Haha. As long as we're getting it in good I guess. And nice hold on that AA just now.

Yea 180s are the greatest things ever once you learn to play. High variance but decent ROIs are sustainable.$36s are the devil though.

If you play a high volume of tournament poker, you will go through periods which are extremely testing. You will be 12 tabling and suddently in a 20 minute period you'll get busted from 10 of those tournaments. You will get your money in ahead 10 times in a row and lose them all. You will will get 2 outered on the river for a massive stack deep in a big tournament. It's at times like these when naturally you will feel tilt. You will wanna hit something or shove your stacks in every tournament so you can quit. Remaining composed in these situations is one of the toughest things to master as a multi tabler - and I believe it is probably the most important. It's not easy to master either - for each person the solution will be different. Not being able to do this will could well be the difference between a small winner and a big winner.Just today, I've had 3 periods like this. I almost blew up in the lastest one but relieved my anger by punching a pillow and taking a deep breath.Prob gonna play 1 more batch of 12 180s whilst the last MTTs start. I have a nice stack in the 5R but that's about it :club:.also wtf.Dealer: Game #41364213057: pipalive wins pot (2,419) with a pair of Queenspipalive: BLUE YOU SLEEP WITH DEALER!!!!!!!!!!pipalive: BLUE GO TO HOME YOUR WIFE EATA A POT-TE OS CRNpipalive: AA---- RR --- AND IN THE NEXT---- DD?!?!
