It's amazing how quickly Iverson has become virtually irrelevant in the NBA. A.I. was actually one of my favourite all-stars to make fun off...I mean the whole "practice" rant and taking a brazillion shots a game or whatever. But now I find myself actually feeling bad for him. The fact that he could only continue playing and being "the man" in a Grizzlies uniform is sooooo sad. Like, c'mon...NOBODY wants to go to Memphis and you'd be a fukkin liar if you said you did.But really, what are Iverson's options to get out of this? I'm thinking he would be better off taking $2M for one year and play the role of Marbury in Boston or something like that. Swallow his ego and hopefully up his stock. I don't actually think Iverson's pride could take coming off the bench (I don't really think he's sign for only $2M either). But one of the NBA's best scorers in history now can't even get a mid-level exception salary on any team of relevance.I can't think of another former MVP that's declined in value in the league this quickly.

I really like Iverson. He plays harder than just about anybody, wants to win, just can't quite get his ego in check enough for it to happen.I'd like to see him go lead a contenders second unit just to have another shot at a ring.

He could definitely sign with the Heat for a little over the vet minimum and help add scoring punch to a team that is offensively challenged after Wade and Beasley. He would get plenty of run at PG and SG and be a part of a playoff contender. But AI is a schmuck and the rumor is the Heat are way down on his list......but he likes Memphis. Shows you his priorities I guess.

He had the opportunity to be the sixth man in Detroit, and I remember reading that he would rather retire than come off the bench.

The Pistons at no point last year were a title contender.
Obviously. The point of the post was that he said he wouldn't come off the bench. Title contender or not.
"I will retire before I do this again. I will leave the game before I do this," he said. "Because I can't be effective like I know I can playing this way. It's just something I've not ever been able or had to do."

AI at press conference for his comeback to 76ers.http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=4711155&a...egoryid=2378529I'm glad he'll get a chance to finish things right.
I am too... I remember growing up, like 7-9 years old... he was still a stud on the video games, hella old school but still god like!

that should be on his hall of fame plaque - took too many shots, didn't pass the ball enough, committed too many turnovers - but his video game likeness ruled!

no WAY AI can act that well. if there's one thing you can count on it's Iverson wearing his heart on his sleeve. he just says whatever he feels...obviously a PR nightmare but the guys fer reaaal!!So I was thinking about Iverson's hatred for playing on the bench even if it were a chance at a championship. Winning a championship has never really a primary goal for this guy. Got me to thinking that maybe he's more concerned with where he falls in the history books. I big part of his stats is his points-per-game average. It would dramatically drop if he played on the bench. I don't think I'm out of line in saying AI was a guy who really wanted the scoring titles even if it meant taking a ridiculous amount of bad shots. I know the man can pass but only 100 double doubles in nearly 900 games? I know they're different players but to put it in perspective...Jason Kidd has more in triple doubles (103). I dunno...I'm always torn with AI. Only thing I know is I like him in the NBA...basketball is not nearly as interesting without him.

I can't tell if AI is actually getting back into form now. He had some solid numbers and % vs. the Raps...of course a lot of people can say that so who knows.

Resurrected himself by being in the all star. Well a guess just this once, probably his last. More of a problem to deal with his ego than anything else.
ya, is it just me or is AI actually starting to play well? his FG% is solid.
