I think they'll take care of that for you when their daughter tells them you've been Liking all her beach pictures.

OK, so I just looked into the new methods a little bit, and am 100% sold. Apparently the problem isn't that they are nurfed out or worse, it's that parents don't understand them, and find them confusi

I think what ever black man said that, has learned how to tap dance for the white folk masterfully. Keep getting that paper, buddy!

unless you are making >.5m/yr it is against your long term interests to vote for anyone other than bernie.

Unless your "interests" have nothing to do with finances.

what's common core math?

The most nonsensical way of teaching math to unsuspecting kids ever devised.

It's actually highly intuitive and is how most intelligent adults eventually figure out how to do mental math except we're fast tracking children and teaching them to think about how math works as opposed to just memorizing formulas and theorems.

I bet Tilty has gotten his education on common core from Facebook posts and Fox News and hasn't actually looked at the core standards because if he had he would see that they don't specify one way of doing math but focus more on the why and how of math while trying to make kids better at mental math and problem solving.

I have nephews in grade school. They have to be taught the "right" way to do math before they can figure out how common core works. My bet is Napa has never tried to actually do common core with a 10'year old to see how counter intuitive it is to them.

I still love ya though.

I make it a point to not hang out with 10 year olds. And my parole officer doesn't appreciate it. I have looked over various levels of curriculum though.

The whole point is that it isn't intuitive to children. That's why we have to teach them. Not my fault they're lazy millennials and not willing to put in the work. The way this economy is going you're going to have to be able to understand programming and a solid understanding of math theory is essential to advanced programming and the sooner we start teaching kids that, the better.

i think the hard truth is that anyone under the age of 25 is probably too far gone to be of use to society going forward. better to put them in labor camps now and be done with it. math has no meaning to them.

I don't know anything about common core, but I'm all for teaching kids with a system that works for the individual. So as long as there are multiple options, I'm going with that one. I homeschool my kids. I could care less what happens to public school kids.
