Herrasmies 0
Hello, I write on behalf of a Finnish research team affiliated with the University of Helsinki. We're looking for poker players to participate in an on-line study about poker decision-making, poker playing experience, and emotion regulation. I kindly invite everyone even slightly interested to participate: http://fppvu.eu.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_1CiLv38g8Trelyl The survey is somewhat long, and it takes about 30-40 minutes. I understand well that this is longer than what Internet surveys typically take – your participation would thus be greatly appreciated. More information is provided on the page linked to above. Our previously published academic articles of the same topic can be found at http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs10899-012-9311-3?LI=true and http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs10899-012-9339-4?LI=true (for those who are interested in the above articles, but can't access them, please email me) Please feel free to advertise the survey link above. I wish all poker players the best! We also wish to thank the administrators of this board for their interest in our research! Sincerely, Jussi Palomäki (jussi.palomaki[at]helsinki.fi) University of Helsinki Institute of Behavioural Sciences Cognitive Science unit
FCP Bob 1,312
The researchers asked for our permission to make this post and we have agreed. I couldn't say no to somebody from Finland in the Winter.
DiamondDixie 12
I did it and I think it actually took me a little under 30 minutes. It's an interesting survey, will we be able to see the results at some point?

It's an interesting survey, will we be able to see the results at some point? Thanks for your interest! When the results get published, we will post about it here! This might take some time though, as the scientific publishing process is usually somewhat slow... -Jussi
king_tanner 84
Did it. There are a lot of "depends on the situation" questions for me. Especially on the scale 1-7 questions. So I'm not sure how accurate my answer is in terms of the study with a few of the questions. If I found myself thinking "I'm not sure," or "depends on the situation" I just put a 4. That's perfectly fine -- the idea is just to reply based on your "gut feelings". Thanks alot for doing the survey!

Balloon guy 158
Not for nothing, but when you offer a drawing with prizes, then ask me to suggest others participate, you are lowering my odds of winning... I understand the motivation part, but you are talking about people who try to improve their odds, then present a situation where following your suggestion would lower my odds. Something to think about, like maybe have a sliding scale of prizes, 1 prize for every 50 participants. This removes the negative result of my suggesting others to participate. We hadn't considered this. Thanks for pointing it out!
