  1. Over the centuries, there have been horrible, horrible acts done in the name of Christianity. Hitler is just one example. From 1095 to the fifteenth century, Christianity actually had leaders who believed that God would forgive anyone who killed in the name of Christ. What is important recognize, though, is that those people committed sins that are in direct contradiction to the teachings of the Bible. What they did IS NOT CHRISTIANITY. In fact, many (if not all) of them were probably not even Christians despite claiming to be.Christianity does not teach the killing of unbelievers. Christi
  2. From www.pokerpages.com Tuesday, 24th of January 2006 02:39 PMMark Napolitano remains at par with 10K as does Daniel Negreanu.
  3. What do you mean "entirely too big?" Give me reasons. Put him on a range of hands, and show me that my equity against reasonable holdings is such that a river-call is appropriate.WangAfter the flop, my opinion is that CO has AK, AQ, AJ, KQ maybe, or a mid to high pocket pair (including 77). The fact that he calls 2 on the flop and three bets on the turn tells me that either a)the king helped him or B) he thinks he has the better hand and was waiting for the turn to get aggressive (possibly QQ or 77) or c) he thinks he can get me to fold a hand like AQ by playing the turn K aggressively. If
  4. No way? Never? The pot is entirely too big here to fold to one bet on the river. Call this down.
  5. There are a lot of factors that affect the math. I was just simplifying things for the purpose of this discussion. The bottom line is that because we have two opponents who will often call with worse hands (especially if it looks like we are trying to steal the pot), we don't have win a majority of the time to show a long term profit.
  6. Most of the time we have the best hand. The times are rare that we are up against a passively played ace or king, although it undoubtedly will happen. If we bet here, we get called by a weaker pair much more often than we get raised. More often than not, those aces or kings out there will just call anyway. That's my problem here. I honestly don't think I have the best hand here, at least not often enough for this to be profitable. :(I am willing to concede that *IF* I think I have the best hand most of the time, I would bet this. But I don't. At $2/$4 I would agree, at $.50/$1, the randomnes
  7. You don't three bet the river with a K-high flush? Just curious.

  9. How does the size of the pot affect your decision?
  10. Please don't take what I'm about to say the wrong way. Although I have yet to receive my chip set from the WSOP contest, I'm sure that I will. It's exciting to hear that others are starting to receive their prizes.Understand, though, that the contest was offered as a promotion to the site. It was supposed to bring increased traffic and new members. It is these numbers that are partially responsible for the changes that took place last week. The contest was free, but to say that Daniel didn't get anything out of it is not entirely true.EDIT: My chip set has arrived! Many thanks, Daniel!!!
  11. That brings up another point about relying too heavily on reads. Reads like this are never 100% accurate, especially at these micro limits. This is why folding this marginal hand to one bet on the river is a mistake. Don't do it.
  12. I'm don't disagree. That wasn't my point. The OP's question was specifically about the river, and I think it's worth a call. Our only disagreement is whether or not we win this hand more or less than 7 out of 100 times. I think you are giving your opponents way too much credit here. At 0.50/1.00 stakes, people do some crazy things. The pot is large enough here to err on the side of calling.Anyone else have any thoughts? Do we win this hand 7/100 times?EDIT: Just read psujohn's post above. (He posted while I was typing mine). This was my point exactly about the crazy things people do at
  13. No, the pot is too big to fold on the river to one bet. Most of the time you are behind, but you only have to have the best hand a little more than 7% of the time for this call to be correct. Call.
