I was in Vegas this weekend, and what did I find in the Caesar's? DANIEL NEGREANU playing TJ Cloutier at the NBC heads up poker championship. The set was totally awesome(except when the guy in the toga busted me for moving seats so I could see the matches better). When I started watching, TJ was on a shorter stack(something like just under 60k, with DN having 110+k). From what I could see on the play, DN was using his chip advantage to chop away. Eventually they played a few big pots in which TJ doubled up twice. There were 4 tables going in the bracket, noticeably Grinder vs Sam Farha and Ted Forrest vs Ernie Durak, with Phil Hellmuth and Shaun Sheikhan sitting on the side watching the action(I think Sheikhan was waiting to play his match against David Grey). With 4 tables going on, it was pretty hard to follow the action on every one of them. DN was playing TJ on the feature table. But just to recap, heres the breakdown on some key hands.DN vs. TJ CloutierDN re-raised TJ all in before the flop with KQ, TJ quickly calls. TJ shows : A ADN shows : K QFlop: A J 9Turn: 9River: JThis pot doubled TJ up. They also got it all in on the flop in which TJ had a pair and DN had a flush and gutshot straight draw with 6s9s(10 and 7 and 2 spades on the board). I kept expecting DN to show 10 7 on this hand! Unfortunately DN missed the turn and river and doubled TJ up. The hand where DN busts TJ out was kinda fuzzy, because there was like 3 other consecutive all ins at the other tables going on. The flop was 10 7 rag(I think it was a 4 or a 5). Turn was a 8 and the river paired the rag. TJ went all in and DN quickly called. When they finally got around to announcing the action on the feature table( after DN kept everyone updated that there was an all in here!) TJ showed 10 7 and DN showed 9 J for the nut straight. Good show Mr. Negreau!
