Shoving Ranges With Bbs

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to define a simple shoving range when taking number of BBs into consideration. Probably a bad idea considering I'm certain it is exploitable, but could make some PF decisions a little easier. This is what I came up with so far:100+ KK-AA AKs75+ QQ-AA AKs, AK50+ QQ-AA, AKs, AK, AQs25+ JJ-AA, AKs, AK, AQs, KQs10 or less 77-AA, 10As-AKs, AQ-AK, suited connectors 78-QKThis is assuming only one person entered the pot before you, and they opened with a standard 2.5-3xBB raise, and no one else has called the raise. I guess we could also assume that stacks are close to even, since shoving on a big stack that has you covered several times over could result in lighter calls.Obviously the deeper we are, the less likely we would be to get it all in with anything other than AA. And the shorter we are, the more it's about FIV.So...too tight...to loose? Throw it away? Thanks

Why are you trying to start up another argument about shoving AK with a ton of BB's...In general I think your list is shoving too light with big stacks..but this one is going to get ugly I think, lol. Also it has a LOT to do with what buy-ins of tourny's you're assuming as well as the volume played.

Working out shove and reshove ranges from each position (vs different player types) is something you probably oughta try to do by yourself until you find it comes intuitively. I will say reshoving from the BB with 10 BBs and 78s is almost always terrible. However reshoving from the BB with 15 BBs and 78s is quite often good. (Due to the difference in fold equity)You'll be surprised how profitably you can open shove eg - you can unexploitably open shove QTo with 25 BBs (antes) in the SB. On the button with 10 BBs you can open shove anything from about 50% of hands to ATC vs different blinds. Also I think reshoving 100 BBs with AK is going to be awful.

That's where I thought I was being to loose.

That's what I'm looking for.A serious debate amongst tournament players where hopefully players like myself can learn something.Of course it's not as simple as a chart, and there are other factors to consider. Such as buy in, structure, stack sizes, villains range, other players left to act, etc. But I figure a chart is a good way to start.Despite the fact that I feel I do fairly well in tournaments, knowing when to shove/3bet, call all in is one of my many leaks.

Because of the MANY variables that affect these decisions I don't think you're going to get very far with your goal. If you are looking to fill those specific leaks you can learn a lot from reading HoH vol's 1&2 and other literature on playing in different M zones, etc. I've been toying with SitNGo Wizard the last few weeks and have learned a lot from that, too, though you could only apply it to final table play in MTT's I suppose.

I don't see why you are shoving anything with 100BBs to a single raise.
Not necessarily just shoving, but hands that I would 3 bet AND call all in with if my opponent 4 bet shoves. I should have stated that. Sorry.

if you have 100+ BB and Villian has 100+ big blinds AK probably doesn't get what 6-bet all in so its an ok range but you need to be read dependant if you have played with someone for hours and never seen a 4-bet and you open AK get 3-bet and you 4- bet then he 5-bets all in FOLD! This is not a simple this is how many BB i have this is what i open shove. I get the idea yah youi wanna go to war heavy with Aks A's and K's but use reads and play standard the spots should come up that much!

Let me just add that these are not opening ranges or 3 bet ranges. When the blinds are worth stealing, I open fairly light when first to act, and 3 bet much lighter based on reads on the original raiser and other factors. It's more of a chart of hands that I would be willing to risk 30%-100% of my stack preflop based on how many BBs I have.I can see both the good and bad sides. I'll be trying it out in some tournaments/SnGs and will make any necessary adjustments. Some of which I already made based on Highway's advice earlier.

this is just an awful post in several ways, but a great post in theory. what you are trying to do is good, but your #of BBs is way off. first off, your '10 or less' category should be a lot tighter. ALOT tighter. I think your 10 or less is much better for about 20-25bbs. 10bbs and less im open shipping, 15-25 im reshipping, 30+ im 3betting a pretty wide range on effective stacks of 30+, and 40+bbs im 3betting super light depending on position and who is opening.i will reship pretty often with 20bbs with hands like 68s..as opposed to your range which has JJ at the BOTTOM of it?! your ranges for 25bbs is way too tight, and your missing a whole category of 15-20bbs, or 15-25 even. i also think that you thinking about getting certain hands in all in pre flop with 50, 75, and 100bbs is just ridiculous. focus on having 10, 15- 25, 30, or 40bbs, and their ranges to 3bet or reship.

Those are all actually some adjustments I made in the last two tournaments I've played.Hand last night, I squeezed in the BB with 97s with 18bbs and got two folds.
