Turned Flush Against Utg Limper

Recommended Posts

Villian is 20.3/5 w/0.81 AF over 60 hands. We are both above average stacks. This was the second time he limped UTG, other time was AA. My question is mostly about how you play the turn min raise? At the time it really like he made the nut flush. In hindsight nut flush draw and pair, 2 pair and a set all seem possible. What made me freeze was that if he limped a KK or AA type hand why would he not make a bet with it on the flop. He is against the blinds but there are alot of scare cards that could come.Once the fourth spade doesnt come on the river should I make a value bet there or should I really be afraid of the nut flush? Seems fine to me - I think that villain puts you on a king and not the flush draw since you lead out on the flop. His min-raise is probably a cheap way to bluff that he has the flush.I like the check on the river as it gives villain one more chance to bluff at the pot. If he does have a better hand, then he might value bet it leaving you some chips if you're behind. I don't see much benefit to value betting the river here as he folds worse hands and reraises with better.

Awful river check. Only two hands beat you. Checking the river is playing scared.Bet the river for value. Get it all-in if you're raised. People play smaller flushes like they're the nuts.

The way I played it would there be value in betting the river assuming he had a two pair or set type hand?

I like the river check for the reasons gobears said.

3-bet the turn. The flatcall/check on the river is pretty intricate, and he's unlikely to bet again on a pretty scary board. If he has AA he might make a crying call (esp. w/ the As), and he's definitely calling w/ any set (which is what he's representing). He'll probably also call w/ 2 pair. If you flat the turn, then the river check is good as it fits in perfect w/ your slowplay line.
