  1. I actually think flatting is your BEST option. See what UTG+1 does with the additional $60 raise. If he moves in on top of the raise, I think you have to dump it. You are a small dog against AJ, and a 3-1 dog against a set. Best case, you flat, he just calls, and you likely will get a scared check out of him on the turn.
  2. I agree, I should be buying in full. Don't you think betting smallish on the turn more defines the hand than checking and having her bet, then guessing whether or not QQ is good? That was the line I was taking, but I agree $35 can be interpretted as weak or scared by a good player...which I wasn't sure she was or not. Results below in whiteHero folds. Villian flashes 77.
  3. I agree 100%. But if she is getting crazy with a smaller overpair than mine, she would likely check behind on the river since I called the turn raise.
  4. Gotcha. I am a newb. I posted my hand in the title.
  5. Just sat down, and this was the 2nd hand I was dealt. Max buyin in this game is $350, I started the hand with $300 (I always bring 2 $300 buyins with me), she had about $600. She is a younger girl in her mid 20's. Had an ipod and hood on. Villian limps UTG along with 3 others. I make it $25 to go in SB. Villian calls as well as another limper.Flop 8 7 3 rainbowHero bets $30, villian calls, other limper folds.Turn 4c putting 2 clubs on the boardHero bets $35 trying to keep the pot small with no reads. Villian quickly raises to $75. It felt like a flopped set, but thought she might be overplayin
  6. If you have $300 and aggresive frat guy who watches WSOP on ESPN opens for $20 with 67s, you raise to $75 with AA, he will probably call if you have $225 behind. With $25 behind (on a $100 buy in), I doubt he makes this call IMO.
  7. The only professional at a 1-2 table is the metal box they drop $5 into every hand. That guy makes like $100/hour. Not bad!
  8. Steve...like others have said, build up your roll (both poker and living), so you can buy in deep (without it being more than 5% of your BR) and not fret about paying bills. Most cardrooms in Vegas allow you to buy in for $300 max at 1/2. To me, it is optimal to have everyone at the table covered... I actually just got back from a trip to Vegas where I played a lot of 1/2. I bought in for $200 everytime. But if the table had a lot of action (opening raises to 15-20 dollars) and weak players, I would add another $100. You said you dont mind working for $8/hour, I cant imagine that this isnt pos
  9. It is spread limit, but since you can bet 150 on any street and then raise another 150, you can be all in with a RR. Anyhow, thank you for all the feedback. I am hoping that I can beat the game for a good amount. I will use the next year as my sample size.
  10. I have a normal desk job.. looking to make supplemental income. Dont want to go broke and reload but that would be an option. I am a winning player. My BR started as a $100 deposit online.
  11. I have built my roll up to $4k playing homegames and online. The casino near my house has a 2-5NL game with a max bet of $150 and a max buy in of $300 that is beyond juicy. I have played in this game a few times, up about $700 or so. I would like to take a shot and start playing this game consistently. Can my BR handle it? I plan on buying in for the max each time.
  12. LOL... I was wondering the same thing about Paul Phillips. I think he is out of poker entirely...
  13. I think your flop bet was too big. I would have bet $15 to keep the pot more manageable. Depending on how comfortable he looked, I would either stack and hope he only had a big heart. If he is already flushed, you can still fill up. Calling is out of the question in this spot IMO.
  14. Sick. I would probably lead out and make the defensive bet ($35). If he has 67s or a mid pair he will fold and if he raises or calls you can release or check the river. I have a feeling he has A4 in this spot though.
  15. Limping on the button w 93s is just loose, not aggressive. Like everyone has said, fold PF. But since you didn't, get the money in once you hit TP with the FD.
