Ah, the rule of thumb is you don't need to start studying until after the 4th of July. Enjoy this weekend and next and then get down to business.
Pivvy was right on about the legal market being crappy and me being fortunate to have such a great job. I really can't afford to not do as much as possible for the Bar especially since most of my peers either dont have jobs or their jobs are deferred so they are doing NOTHING but studying for the bar and relaxing at night. And my offer is contingent on passing the bar raising the stakes even higher (though this condition is normal).U of Miami's bar passage rate last year was 91% so I am not super concerned. But, I will probably end up studying almost twice as much as needed to pass just in case. They are letting me keep hours of just 9-5 right now at the office but I still get full pay (today was my first pay day---so amazing) so I am trying be concientious. I am planning on taking July 4th weekend completely off to avoid getting burnt out. I will probably take tonight off.....get in 3 hours tomorrow and 3 hours Sunday. Not so horrible.to get back on topic a little, I just ordered Matusow's book off Full Tilt using ftp points. looking forward to reading it in early August when this crap is behind me.

even in this economy, most firms will give you two cracks at the bar.... that said, all kidding aside, I am sure you will pass on crack number oneI love the ITT Tech joke though, it's not often that someone gets the chance to parrot Gmanshade's material to be clear, I have no idea what ITT is (I assume it is like Devry) and I didn't go there

I am on the scene folks. to the op, thanks for the review which is reasonably good. but keep in mind that the force of a simile (x is like y) is only valuable when used sparingly.

Hey everyone,Like many here I've read a ton of poker books... and most of 'em sorta suck, who are we kidding. Anyway, while stuck shopping in the rain yesterday, I saw the Mouth's new book, "Check Raising the Devil". All I can say is WOW! I couldn't put the d@mn thing down. Great read from cover to cover. Like many I'm sick of most poker books that all have similiar thoughts on poker theory *yawn*. Wow, so I should bet/raise when i have the best hand and save money when I don't have the best of it?? At any rate, Mikey is a fascinating character, his break down of tournies, hands, and his start and rise as a pro are really interesting. I highly recommend

I don't know what you are selling, but I will take 3 dozen just for bumping this thread.

His business model sucks. Being a member for nearly four years and then making people guess what you are selling? Doesn't seem efficient.

We are both being judgmental, the only difference is my judgments are well reasoned, well presented and actually have something to do with reality whereas yours are inane assumption wrapped in a steaming pile of contradiction.

Yeah, for what it's worth, I tried making a new thread about the book and got mine "locked"... seems this thread already exhisted. I do offer my sicerest apology to the moderators, as I could/didnt find this one. Seems that you can regurgatate the same topics regarding strategy, small ball, Phil Hellmuth's behaviour, or Phill Ivey's greatness (he's gotta be the Tiger Woods of poker, right? :club: ) but post another book opinion thread and you're in for it. No worries...

sigh. my post was pointing out that most of our generalizations about criminal law are false. I made that post from my desk at my brand new, sick job courtesy of my degree from the University of Over-Generalization School of Law. Did you make yours from your mom's basement or from the computer lab at ITT Tech?
Can you send me the address of that law school please, I must be going to the wrong one because I want a fancy desk. I am willing to transfer. But hey, great review. I always liked the mouth and you definitely sold me on this biography.

Matusow’s entrapment by an over friendly undercover DEA agent is everything that is wrong with our current treatment of drug users in America today. Matasow’s Judas actually helped and encouraged him in his efforts to get clean, before stepping in and lowering the boom. Shortly after Matusow had kicked his drug problem, the undercover agent started to repeatedly beg Matusow to get him a large quantity of Cocaine. Matusow, who is nothing if not loyal, eventually gave in and complied with the request. He refused to make any money on the deal and strongly told the man, he thought to be his friend, that it was something he’d never again do under any circumstances.
So bizarre that these sting operations are still legal in the states. Whenever you hear a report about them, they seem to have instigated the crime that they uncovered. I always wonder whether sting operations are doing more harm than good for society as a whole. Oh well, once again not my place to decide.
