  1. I think those types of plays are appropriate at times. Coin Flip situation against a middle pair. For me it depends how large the raise is and if I already have any money in the pot...
  2. I usually make large raises with hands as weak as A-8o... This is one of my most profitable strategies.*shrug*
  3. In General,How do you bet when you flop middle pair? This sounds like a question a beginner would want to know, but I'm not a beginner. I understand that it is completely conditional and you can not give a simple answer. But what are some of the guidelines or rules you tend to play by?When I flop middle pair, I sometimes bet it and sometimes I don't. If there are more than 2 players in on the hand...I consider my hand virtually useless and i will check it off and fold on anything but small bets. If there are just 1 or 2 others in the hand. I tend to bet it regardless of my position. I a
  4. Here's my analysis of the all in,Honestly, I do not see this guy as having a set. In a shorthanded game, most would raise with a pocket pair preflop. I'm saying this guy just calls the big blind. Two pair is a possibility. I would probably be thinking 2 pair if they have a lot of chips to spare. If the player only has 5BBs or less in chips... they might only have a pair, be trying to steal, or also have a flush draw. I think everything is relative to the amount of chips the player has. If they have me well covered, i'd expect a monster. If they are very short, maybe they just have some
  5. Yes, I am thinking my ace is good in this position. So my logic behind my decision is... It's tournament play and the object is to knock out other players. If you're only risking half of your stack or less, its worth taking the 45% chance of knocking a player out. I think its a whole different story in a cash game. However, you still have the odds against you somewhat. This is why I would not call off more than half of my stack, cause I also think it is a bad idea to call off all of your chips with a draw hand. Bad logic?
  6. Another hypothetical situation...Lets say, you have a $1,000 bankroll to play online poker and you like tournaments. How do you allocate your funds? I am a solid poker player and I do pretty decent however I really have trouble with this aspect for some reason. The tournaments you can play have buy-ins of 10, 50, 100, 200, and 500. Suggestions please! Right now I try not to bet more than 15% of my bankroll... but this is difficult when the low payouts aren't satisfying you. It's really unsatisfactory being a grinder. But anyways, I just want your opinion on the smartest way to manage y
  7. Okay, hypothetical situation here...Lets say, you are in a single table tournament with 5 players remaining. You're in third place with 2,000 chips. The blinds are 100/200. You are dealt As 4s. You and another player call to see a flop. The flop is 5s 9s Qh. Your opponent immediately goes all in. Lets say that you know nothing about your opponent. Considering that you have 2,000 in chips and your opponent has gone all in with X amount of chips. Depending on one variable, the X amount of chips that your opponent pushes in, when do you call? When do you fold? For me, in this position I
  8. I've been playing a lot of online poker... For me this is much harder than live games, i usually profit from live games. However, online poker is just killing me... I feel like I make very good decisions online but things just don't shape up...Here's my problem, someone fix me. :)I am generally a tournament player. I play small tournaments and large tournaments... anywhere from 10 to 2000... But no matter what tournament, almost all of the time, i start out by gaining a lot early. I always take a lot of early hands for some reason, and i tend to put a lot of people out early... Then after
