  2. I'd be happy just to see the Jays up over 90 wins and in contention for the playoffs this year. There's potential for some kind of surprise season, but there are also some serious caveats:Losing O-Dog might prove to be pretty big, as we got worse defensively in the infield (as evidenced by all the errors so far, but hopefully that has more to do with nerves and inexperience and less to do with actual talent as we all fear) while putting together a rotation of all groundball pitchers. I'm sure JP took that into account, but gambling on Adams and Hill is just that; a gamble.Plus, there's Burnet
  3. It's a great signing for Arizona, who will be infinitely better with a credible back. The Cards aren't great by any means, but they're also in a lousy division, so who knows, maybe they'll surprise people? Either way, signing Edge is a reason to praise them for going in the right direction, not an excuse to remind people how bad they are.
  4. I always thought Matt Damon was a bit of a Streisand, but he's really rockin' the sh!t in this
  5. While we're on the subject, why don't you tell me how you feel about Brangelina?
  6. I'm from Toronto, but I was first told about the game by a guy from Massachussetts. He called it enemy, so I do too.
  7. One game that you might like to try if you have a pair of dice is called Enemy. It's pretty simple, and gets to be a lot of fun (maybe moreso than it might sound in a written description, but trust me it gets you drunk).Basically, everyone playing takes turns trying to roll a seven, 11, or doubles. When someone does so, they get to pour however much of their beer into someone else's cup (or a designated cup if everyone's drinking out of bottles/cans), and basically challenge them to a race. If they can chug the beer before you roll 7, 11, or doubles, then your turn is over and it moves onto th

  9. This thread is EXACTLY the kind of topic I needed to come across when I came to the site. Maybe some of you guys can help me out?I've recently started playing online, and I've played in a bunch of 5 + .5 SnGs on PokerStars. I'd say I've done reasonably well considering how much of a rookie I am, but I think I might be a little too raw to know exactly what I'm doing well and what I'm not.I wish I'd kept track of all my results from the beginning, but I'd estimate that I've cashed in about half of the tourneys I've entered (give or take) and won several, definitely more than I would have expecte

  11. I think the consensus here is pretty right in naming Jagr. The Sens' guys would cannibalize each other's votes, but I'd order them Heatley, Alfie, Hasek, Spezza. Up front, they didn't change much except replace Hossa (a great player in his own right) with Heatley, and look at what's happened. (Even if you prorate their production in the new era of the league, they're much improved up front)Forsberg, Staal, McCabe, and Demitra also get votes.
  12. Datsyuk's breakaway goal in 03-04 was pretty sick too. I don't have a link offhand, but I'm sure most of you know which one I'm talking about. Where he leans heavily to the far post, and waits an impossibly long time before pulling it back and tucking it near side on Turco.
  13. Another great defensive pairing was Blake and Foote out in Denver. Also, didn't Robinson and Gainey play together in Montreal?
  14. I'm probably stating the obvious here, but since it hasn't been mentioned thus far, I figured I'd be the guy to do it. Everyone's listing their various superstitions, and the explanations "I don't know why I do it," "I know it doesn't actually improve my luck," and "I just play worse if I don't" always pop up But that's the thing about superstitions, isn't it? It's not that shuffling your cards or stacking your chips a certain way is going to make you play better, but not doing that thing you do every single time IS going to make you play worse, because rituals and superstitions create a comfo
