#3775813 Recreation Hockey League

Friday's game was fun. I played with Tyler Kennedy most of the game. He's a good guy, joking and chirping the whole game. In warm ups, he asked how I liked my stick because I got one from a local company that buys them from China and puts their wraps on them. I said "Want to try it? We probably use the same size stick." He is listed as 5'11" but he's probably 5'9...5'10 tops. Same exact size.

Rupp was on the other team and we matched up against his line most of the game. He's listed as 6'5" and he's every bit of it. I would have guessed 6'6" without looking it up.

Both mostly glide around and try to make back door passes to us scrubs. Good time though.

how bad has his coaching been ?

I actually think the Leafs have been playing really well, even in the losses.

His player usage just makes me want to bang my head against a wall though. Hainsey and Zaitsev playing more 5v5 minutes than Muzzin and Dermott is just unacceptable. He just canít help himself and consistently throws our two worst players (by far IMO) into a lot of high leverage situations and itís just not necessary. some of the forward allocations donít make any sense either, though they are less damaging because the Leafs have a lot of good Forwards so itís hard to screw that up too bad.

What an amazing night. If you are a hockey fan and you go to Vegas this is a must event you need to see. Itís just so different than anywhere else. Was a perfect night for us with the kids. We saw an amazing game , lots of goals and we got to see Austonís 100 career goal ( and 101).

To top it off we happened to find them coming out at the bus and the look on my sons face when Matthews waved to him was beyond priceless.

Interesting tidbit I have been in attendance to see 6% of Austonís Career goals. Considering I have never seen him in Toronto play itís pretty cool

Thought I would share this:
Awesome story.

Along those lines: In 2008 some college buddies of mine came into town for a weekend which included back-to-back nights of Dave Matthews Band shows. After the 2nd night, I was on the phone with some friends trying to guide them to where we were parked for some post show tailgating when my college friends ended up 20-30 yards from our car talking to a group of 4 girls around our age. Once my other friends found me, we walked over to join the group. Hung out for probably 30-40 minutes, had some beers, and went on our way.

The very next weekend, I'm in line going into a bar downtown. The girl in front of me turns around laughing and says "We met last weekend after Dave!". We talked in line, had a beer together inside, and, again, went on our way.

Seven months later on St Paddy's Day (observed), I start drinking at 6am, of course, for the parade and I'm at a bar mid-afternoon when two of the same girls walk in the bar. I yell at them, they remember me, so we talk for a while. We decide we should tailgate at dmb that summer so they give me their number. We did....and they are now 2 of my best friends. My kids call them Aunt Linda and Aunt Laura and they are often at my "family only" events.

I took my daughter (turned 3 on 1/10) skating for the first time yesterday. I didn't expect much but she was amazing. She stood on her own with very little movement, but, above that, didn't want to leave the ice. Every time her old dad had to take a break, she would repeat "I wanna go back out!" to me. She already asked me when she can play hockey. :icon_surprised:

I'm going to post the excel file with the schedule in Slack to make it easier for people to search when they played another team.

Slack as been great for this league.
Yes it has been clogged up lately with childish behavior by Serge, Dale, Roy etc. but it's a great vehicle for hockey talk and trade take, private or otherwise
Less cumbersome than here

yup, really common problem

Part of the reason to not drive 130 in the Winter ;-)

But if I was not driving at that speed I would not known that I had this issue

Wayne, did I understand this correctly......some Gretzky RC are worth $15k now???
Curious, how 'nicked up' was Dale's that its only 250-300.

Im sitting here wondering why I didnt keep all the gretzky cards. I was such a dumb kid!

The Gretzky was absolutely mint. Most Gretzkys are rough cuts and not center. This one was really good. So not too many out there.

No Mexican league championship?
Apparently no games for me either..There should be a 3 game relegation series like they have in the Junior Championships

Actually not a terrible idea for #4 to play #5 and the loser is relegated.

People chirping athletes just because theyíre rich and slightly older is still laughable, mean and extremely childish. And itís that example that leads kids and jerks to think itís ok to harass on social media and elsewhere.

Someone having a big bank account does not give you leeway to be an ******* to them.

Otto has never mail out anything for an auto. He loves to actually see the player sign for him. When he was younger he would even go for AHL players.
