takin' down home game without lookin at cards...

Recommended Posts

I tried it once. I didnt tell anyone obviously. I would pretend to look so no one questioned me. When it got to heads up, I still played without looking. Dumbest thing ever. If youre gonna try this, look at tour cards when you get heads up :club:

It might be possible if noone knew you were doing it. You'd also have to vary your play and act like you're playing pretty tight, so you could get some respect when you made plays. If people knew you were playing blind, you'd get more action then you wanted and you'd be done. Even if you pulled it off perfectly, you would at some point probably run into a hand and be done.

Actually I did this last night. Mainly from the button though. I've really bbeen trying to work on my position play. I won all three games we played and while in position I saw my cards maybe 20 percent of the time.

Don't things fall apart when you need to start making or calling all-ins?You can't play that blind. Eventually you'll get called and have 3 high, and how can you call without knowing what you have. You can't win a tournament without being all-in at some point.Sorry, it's good practice for position, but only in a cash game. It has a lot of problems in a tournament.

You should look at my thread, I addressed this problem and layed out specific rules for when you're allowed to look at your hand

anyone ever try this?
Yup. I've tried it at home games, and at lower stakes casino games (3/6 - 5/10).Of course I mostly look at my cards, but there are occasions where I don't look, or look at only 1 card, then I try to "outplay" my opponents after the flop. Mostly I'll do it in position. I remember reading something that Mike Caro wrote about doing this from the button, 'cause he's going to raise from there any way.

Done this a couple times at home, I play with the same group of guys for fun, we don't profit off each other, just kind pass the money around from week to week having fun.any case, got up to get a drink from the kitchen during a game while a hand was being dealt and someone called to me that action was on me, so I yelled back "I raise $5" (a min raise). they laughed and 3 people folded and 3 people called. So I decided to take my time making this drink and have some fun with the hand. They called out the flop to me as 6 8 10 rainbow. Checked to me so (still from the kitchen) I raise it about the size of the pot. 2 more folded and the BB called me.Turn comes a 2 and we check it down. river comes a K, I yell out a bet and the last straggle folds. Laughing I come back to the table and turn over my cards ..9 7 off for the nut straight off the flop.didn't win me a lot of money but it certainly changed the mood of the game for the rest of the night :club:

I do this at my home games when it gets tight and boring.Funny, the last time I did it I didnt look at my cards until the river.I looked and I had kings. He bets a nice little chunk.I had to call even if I knew i was beat because of the whole situation. He flopped a str8.I was funny tho.

If you got second of ten players, I can assume that you made at least triple or quadruple your starting stack, at least at some point. That seems pretty impossible if you literally never looked at any of your cards...how the hell can you even call one single bet?????? All you can do is bet, raise, or fold, AND if somebody happens to call you ever, you have random cards and they don't. Impossible, or else your opponents were stuffed animals.
