Ive never been flyfishing...looks toughLooks tough, but it's not. If you ever decide to do it. Go with a guide the first time or a really patient friend who flyfishes. It's an amazing pursuit. It takes courage to admit that and sending it may encourage you to act differently in the future.Maybe throw in a first paragraph saying the issue might have been strangers in the house or age. I appreciate the sentiment. I like to think I'm pretty cool for my age . I certainly don't treat people younger than me with overt contempt and derision just because they have less life experience. I find most people my age (that aren't friends of mine) to be boring and stuck playing roles that society expects them to play. Do you think a "stick in the mud" 40+ year old would stick around this forum with half the crazy shit that gets bantered about? I love the energy and candor that most of the exchanges on this forum have. I would have had a good time playing cards with those guys. Even if they busted me, I would have tipped my hat and made sure to tell them to call me the next time they played. I really believe the game transcends every difference we may have. Whether it be age, race, or gender. Those that love the game (and I do!) find that common ground and enjoy the opportunity to play against each other. In conclusion, I've decided to NOT send the email. My interpretation of the feedback I received in this thread makes me think I may have read WAY TOO MUCH into the way things shook out last night. However, I am still not letting myself off the hook as far as the introspection is concerned. I have employees and clients that are African American and I need to be aware of how I interact with them and be thoughtful and fair in all my dealings. To those who offered me genuine and thoughtful criticism and advice, I thank you.
