mehIt'd be more of a bad fold than it is a good call...Ivey won't shove there with the Qd, he'd check most other d's to induce a bluff. he wouldnt bet J's full on the turn as hard as he did, since the turn is such a sick scare card, and the only possible hand he could have other than a bluff is K's full (which is why he said he had K's full after the call) ...imo...not an easy call in a big live tourney, so I still give him merit for calling, but I think AK is usually good on that river. Also, against Ivey, I think not reraising preflop in that situation is -EV, smooth calling pre and floating the turn will only lose u the pot when he puts in a big bet on the turn and you don't have the balls to shove...Ivey is just too sick to small ball with imho.

not that good.. ivey's playin his legacy against a player that he thought wasn't that good... the only hand he could have here is QJ with Q of diamonds.. and it's unlikely he has this hand... what's the gonna push with... only a bluff... he value bets the nuts here... seriously.. think it out

I need a hand history, no youtubes!
Why is your avatar a picture of Michael Wilbon? Kornheiser is better lookingAs for the hand, it wasn't really a sick call. The only thing Dia could really put Ivey on was a bluff,Why would Ivey shove in on the river with the nut flush? Or a full house? He'd want Dia to make the mistake

Maybe Phil was hoping that he had just finished watching Rounders (anyone else taken the poker IQ test recently) and pulled the overbet play on him.According to my bible, HOH, it is quite common for a pro to way overbet when he has the nuts. Depends on his read on you. Not so sure this was that easy of a call.

I think this would have been a tougher call if that was Dan Harrington or Phil Hellmuth sitting in Ivey's spot.... But Ivey has horse balls and is prone to bluff, I'm sure this is what went through Dia's head... With 4 diamonds on the board, why would Phil over bet the pot if he had jacks or a flush? don't you think he'd want to milk it as much as he could... Sure pro's overbet when they have the nuts, but they also slow play when they have the nuts..

If Ivey has the Q of diamonds or a full house I think it is a great bet, Dia called because he thought the overbet meant a bluff so if he makes the same play with the nuts he gets paid off by hands that might not normally call with such a scary board. When you are playing with strong players (dia is aussie mills champ?) you need to do stuff out of the ordinary.

wtf? He bet 100k in to a 130k pot? did i miss something?Where's the overbet. gd. and here I thought I knew what an overbet was, now you are going to convince me 4/5th's pot is overbetting? Or am I just so tired i can't comprehend the #'s that come up when he says all-in?

Well it may be slightly mislabelled as an overbet, but it is still much more than a standard "suck" bet where the pot odds offered are just to good to let go, and almost always induce a crying call. But that is not the issue up for discussion here, which is, given this scenario, is it an easy call or not. Some think it is and others are not so sure.
