I Feel Dn's Pain Over Lost Luggage.

Recommended Posts

This is a everyday occurance on pretty much every flight but when it happens to you you see what a inconvenience it is. Alaska Airlines lost or bumped my bag on a trip to vegas a couple of years ago. I flew from Vancouver in November which was hovering around the freezing mark to Vegas which was still around 70F. So I had my Tyler Salzman edition sweater and jeans on which was very uncofortable for the mild weather in Vegas. In addition I had my travellers checks and all my toilitries in my checked bag. But the worst thing is the airlines indiffrent attitude of your personal disaster. They act like it isnt a big deal when it really is. They gave me form to fill out and told me to keep my receits and send them in and they would cover the temporary loss of my belongings for up to $25. I got in at 11pm so going out and getting a change of clothes wasnt an option so I bought a lame hotel logo t shirt, toothbrush, toothpaste and deodarant at the hotel convenience stor for about $40. The next morning my bags still hadnt shown up so I had to go buy another change of clothes and socks and underware for about another $60 then go cancel my travelers checks and get replacemenst which combined took 3 hours out of my day. They finnally showed up at 7 pm that night but with the wasted time on your vacation and the out of pocket expence and all they give you is a lousy $25 which you have to send away for. Airlines have to be more accountable. For every 12 hours you are without your baggage you should get $100, and a free future flight for them wasting your vacation time. Maybe that would smarten them up.

I traveled a bit this summer. My lugage was lost 3 timesOnce for 4 days at the beggining of a 12 day cruise in EuropeTwice for one day after I came home. They lost my wife's luggage on one other thripAmex gave me $250 cause they like me. I didn't have the late luggage insurance, just lost.I have never had lost luggage before, then 3 times this year. The people that work these counters have a hard time. I tried to cut them some slack and took what came, overall it worked out.But I always carry on a change of clothes, and my toiletries. Always. and my cigars, and Suduko book, and hand sanitizers. Always.
