how much is in the pot?

Recommended Posts

I was playing a home game with the usual group of guys when I got the opportunity I had always wanted. Its rare, and when you get it, you want to lure as many people into the hand as possible. Anyway, I flop the nut straight with no flush draw possible. An opponent bets into me. I say "Well how much is in the pot?" and then, after making it look as if im calculating my odds to catch, I decide to call. On the turn card, (It doesnt produce any card for a backdoor draw, and it doesnt pair the board) my opponent instantly goes all in, at which point I instantly call and show my monster hand.Later on, when it comes to heads up. I get dealt J7 suited. My opponent raises it up 2x the BB, so I call. The flop is Q 10 6 rainbow. He bets out a ton and I say "How much is in the pot?" as I check to see how much is in the pot. the turn card pairs the Q. he checks now, and I check as well. The river card is a 5 and he bets half the pot. I instantly go all in for 1.5x the pot. he thinks about it forever, and finally decides to fold KK. I show him my J7 suited and he is shocked. He went on to say that he figured I had a monster since I asked how much was in the pot. I strongly reccomend trying this one out, especially against people who think they are really good who you have never played against, like at the casino.

in my home game you can't ask how much is in the pot, keep track of it as it is going into the pot.  much easier.
The point is to trick your oppenent, i think he might of actually known how much was in the pot....
