http://www.cardplayer.com/poker_news/detai...4aad6290dfafe40I live in Washington and this really sucks. That stupid a** b**** Gregoire had to have three recounts in the election to win and now she makes online gambling illegal in Washington, F**K Her!!!!!!!!!Should i be worried about beign caught, the article says prosecution isnt likely and frankly if they are prosecuting people for this I see something seriously wrong with our justice system. What should a resident of the good ol state of Washington do?

Find her and punch her in the throat.
seriously, people from outside of washington might not know but there was a huge scandal with our gov race last year just like the 2000 presidential campaign and she won in the end but it was very questionable. There was three recounts and she only won the very last one and by state law there couldnt be anymore so she won, very sketchy. Now she puts this bill in to act, i cant think of someone i would like to kick in the teeth more right now.

yes it sucks and its bs but the odds of them catching you are slim and the odds of them nailing you to the wall are slim.its your call, but if it were me i would not change anything other than playing at starbucks in public.

I've read where many in Washington D.C. are looking at this as a States issue, i.e. every State has the right to make it illegal on their own if they choose. This Washinton State ruling could set a precident which other States could easily now follow. This could indeed be the begining of the end.Sooner or later it will become a case in the Supreme Court but the industry could be destroyed by then.I still can't believe this is happeneing....like a bad dream....

There was a discussion on this topic in another forum and one person made a good point. For them to really know that you are playing online poker is if they went to your ISP provider and asked where you visit and that would require federal involvement to delve into your privacy. Until The states can get that access then it would be hard for them to know.

See i dont think they would prosecute people they would just close their acounts. The problem i have with this is I dont know how they go about findign these accounts and how easy/hard it would be to get my information for the state

The only thing I would be worried about is if you won a satellite to a major tournament. That would be funny if someone from Washington won WSOP and was charged with a felony. I bet Nevada doesn't pass a law like this.

sketchy? -- just sketchy? The actions taken in this case constitute an all-out assault on elections, period. It's TEMPTING to say you got what you deserved for not rioting in the streets over this election. Again .. tempting ... I'm not SAYING it, but it's tempting to say it.

Life has a way of making this an almost-assured outcome.

what are WA citizens who are winning players going to do come tax time? do you lie about where the money is coming from or is any info you give to the IRS secure from state eyes (and if this is true, do you trust it implicitly)?i am Canadian so i don't quite know how things work in the US.

I am curious too since the State has no income taxes.

I am from Washington too. I do not think it is likely they will be able to prosecute for this. Plus, how bad will it look if they try to justify building a new prison for all the people who play internet poker. Many jails and prisons are overcrowded. I do not believe they would be able to handle the bad pr if they were to let people out of prison to make room for a person who gambled online instead of going to their "Indian Casino" instead. Total hypocrisy.

don't forget that in washington it IS legal to play LIVE poker. there are card rooms all over. The government just wants you to play live so they get a chunk. We need a rake free government.what I thought was hillarious was that right after they passed the law they sent out a big poster to all the live card rooms announcing the great news and offered advice on how to communicate it so it drives more business to the live rooms.classic.
