Dueces Wild Poker Room, Auburn, Ca

Recommended Posts

For those that know of this poker room (previously called "Dealers Choice" inAuburn, CA I wanted to let you know my impressions of the place. I was in town for the Memorial Day weekend and wanted to play some poker so a couple of posters recommended this place. I didn't get the chance to go until my last night in town, Monday unfortunately. When I got there they were just finishing up their daily tournament and had just one $200 max buy in NLHE cash game going. I got to talking with "Keith" who was running the place and he put me first on the list and said he'd be starting up another game in 15 minutes or so. This is a small poker room/bar with 6 tables I guess it is and a fairly good sized beer and wine bar. The first thing I noticed right away is that the staff, from Keith to the bar tender, dealers, and even the regulars were very friendly and welcoming to a new player. I've been to small card rooms before that have that "insiders club" feel and they aren't real friendly to "unknowns" but that couldn't have been farther from reality here. The dealers were all friendly and talkative and seemed to know most of the players there....(not to mention that "Jordan" is smokin' hot and nice as could be! :club: The game got started 8 handed but was soon up to 9 players. For those that don't know this type of game the blinds were $2 and $3. They had a max $3 drop (rake) but it was "no flop no drop" and considering some of the pot sizes was very fair. I started off playing very tight, looking for premium hands and getting a feel for the players, but did loosen up some in the blinds and on the button when everyone limped. The first pot I won I had pocket 3's in the BB, raised to $13 (seemed to be the standard pre-flop raise here) and had 3 callers. I flop my set, bet $15 to make it look like more of a continuation bet than anything and I'm heads up with the SB. Turn and river are blanks with me betting $20 at the turn and $25 at the river and the SB just smooth calls both times before showing two pair....nice first pot. Anyway, I ended up playing for about 4 hours. I played pretty well, got lucky a couple of times and left up $475 for the evening after tipping out. For those in the area that haven't tried this place I would highly recommend it.Apparently they have a $500 game on Thursday's I think it is and once in a while get a mixed game where most players buy in for $1,000 - $1,500. Any of you Sacramento area players should definitely make the short drive up the hill to Auburn, it's well worth it.

I recently stopped in there as well. The place is as nice as a small card room can get. Very friendly and a pretty good daily tourny. I didn't get to play but just stopped in to check it out as I was driving by. I have relatives there and will definately play next time I am down. Seriously....go check it out. Very professional.

Glad you enjoyed yourself. Nice job on finishing in the black. The big game there can get pretty big btw. I have heard of there being games with $100K on the table between the players. Not Bellagio big, but big for Auburn Ca.

I am going to be in davis, ca in a few weeks maybe I will check it out
You'll only be about 45 minutes away so it would definitely be worth thedrive. My understanding is that they are the only room in the entire area that has a real no limit game. Some places call their game no limit but bet's are capped at $150 I guess. I also understand they get a good Omaha game going for those of you thatplay. I'll be back in the area the first week of August and look forward to spending some more quality time here. :club: I'm wondering how many Sacramento area players know of this little jewel just half an hour up the road? Good Luck.
