Just a quick TR from last week's trip to Vegas. Fun trip on the whole. 7/1Get to Vegas a little later than expected on 7/1 due to usual plane delays, get car at Hertz Gold and drive to Bellagio. Use the "$40 trick" on a relatively deserted checkin and though I don't know if it really mattered or not, manage to get fantastic fountain view instead of presumed wall view (reservations were via Priceline for cheap). Thanks to clerk lady if she made it happen.Get some food (where I cannot remember) and head back, play a little BJ at Bellagio, lose about $100, but tired, so no time or energy to try to win it back. 7/2Get up at a reasonable time (late), head to Planet Hollywood to play 2 PM tournament. Have about 2 hours to kill, so we eat at Earl of Sandwich and browse shops (I need sunglasses). Along the way, pulled into "Survey America" place to do a survey on a new beer which takes about a half hour and pays $40. Karen gets to do a survey about a toothbrush commercial for $15. Play the PH tournament with usual assortment of players who have apparently never played before ("I don't have enough to call the all-in, can I call anyway?") but am card dead and eventually push AQ into AK for 4BBs. Karen busts shortly after.PH has nifty Star Trek slots that we saw last year at Hilton, but it eats $20 w/o letting me play a bonus (this would be recurring theme) which is the best part of the slot. I want to play the Thursday night cheap PLO game at Excalibur on the electronic tables, so we head there. We decide we want to see a show during stay and head to Luxor to buy Believe tix since the 1/2 price place didn't have any better deal on them. Get tickets for Friday night and make reservations for Mon Ami Gabi afterwards.Eat dinner at burger bar and then go to Excal. Get into PLO game that starts 4 handed. A few hands in, I flop nut flush vs. 2nd nut flush in BB vs. SB. and manage to double. PLO is easy I decide. 3 hours later, and many good players later, this proves not so much to be true. There are guys at the table that wrote books like "Advanced Pot Limit Omaha", so I play tight. Eventually get in a limped pot with AA5d6d and see flop of AdKx3d. SB leads, I pot, player after me pushes. SB folds, I call. All in lady has KdKTdX and hits flush on river. I leave about an hour later down $40. The electronic tables aren't as bad as people make out, but they're not as fun as real tables either. That said, I appreciate Excal's willingness to spread cheap PLO rather than the huge games that 2/5 PLO is elsewhere. Karen wins like $50 in cheap NLH and we go to sleep.7/3Time for live poker at Venetian. Room is hopping as usual even during the afternoon. Get in a 1/2 game and proceed to pick up no real hands to make any money with. Get KK twice and win $3 once, and lady flops an A /w AQ the next. Annoying because there's a drunk guy who's giving away money, but nothing to pick it up with. During this time, Elisha Cuthbert (Kim from 24) sits down at 1/2 table next to us, so of course talk is all about her for a while. Eventually get KK for the 3rd time, raise to $12, get called by drunk guy (SB) and a limper. Flop is 976 rainbow, checked to me, I bet $30, drunk guy thinks(???) and calls. Limper shoves for $110 more. I have $100 behind and call. Drunk guy calls as well. Limper has 99 (so I'm way behind), drunk guy has JT. 8 gets there on river (suck it top set). I'm not in the mood to rebuy, so I leave. As Karen finishes up, I go to Casino Royale and make $50 at craps in about 10 minutes, but we have to get ready for show, etc. We change, and go see Believe. Better show than the reviews say although probably not for everyone. It's not exactly a magic show and it's not exactly a Cirque show. Wade Robson coreo is obvious throughout. Fun enough.Head to Mon Ami at Paris, eat great dinner there as usual, albeit hurried (staff seemed to be in a real hurry). Proceed to lose another $40 to Captain Kirk at slots w/o getting a bonus. We're tired, so no poker, instead head to Napolean's lounge in Paris. Two piano guys are playing requests (and earning a fortune doing it). They're great, music is good, and we stay to closing time and then sleep.7/4More poker at Venetian. This session goes better for the most part. Getting hungry and ready to leave and this hand comes up. I raise to $12 /w AQ. Get called by tight player in BB. Flop is A89 rainbow. He checks, I bet $15. he declares "I'm all in" and pushes his $20 in chips forward, leaving his $100 bill behind. Dealer asks for confirmation, and he says yes, still not realizing his bill plays. Dealer eventually pulls his bill into the pot and gives me action. Ugh, decision time, guy meant to be all in for $20, but is accidentally all in for $120. I think for a bit and decide to call. Guy flips JT, and I manage to avoid his draw. End up leaving up a buy-in. Karen is down a bunch and annoyed at Venetian at this point.Eat dinner at decent Italian place in Venetian shops and head back to Casino Royale. Proceed to lose $80 in about 10 minutes at craps followed by $50 stolen by Captain Kirk again. Karen treads water in BJ for a while, but we decide to leave and head back to Venetian to watch fireworks. Watch them for a while and then head to MGM for more 1/2.Karen likes MGM room better than Venetian because she runs good there in the past. Personally, I run like crap there usually. This time I get no cards and table is nitty. But do get to watch a nifty hand where a board comes down AX5. Guy 3-bets another player all-in for like $200. All-in player has 55 for bottom set. Other guy doesn't table hand. Turn is a Q and he starts yelling "I need a 10!" River is a T and makes the 3-bet guy broadway. 55 guy looks sick, but would eventually win it all back. After like 4 hours, I'm up $2 and am done. Karen has another losing session and is now annoyed at poker in general.7/5We head to Rio to watch Hellmuth's Caesar entry. We end up right on the line he's walking in on and get to see the action well. Say what you will, but I like the guy's spirit and think anything that brings attention to the game isn't that bad.We go to the gambling expo thing and Karen and I get in the same PokerVT freeroool SnG. Blinds go fast, so I shove QT over a limp into Karen's 88. She snap calls, limper folds, and she busts me. She ends up heads up down 4-1 in chips and despite a good effort can't win it. Oh well, we both get hats at least (and jerky from another booth). Daniel has busted from feature table by this time, so we leave Rio.We have reservations at Hugo's Cellar in 4 Queens for dinner, so we go get ready, and head downtown. We're early so we go play some 1/2 at Golden Nugget. This session tilts me as the following hands all come up in about 1.5 hours:In one hand, board comes JTx. I have KQ and get it in against a shortstack for $50 who I know has a crappy J. He has J5, but I miss AKQ9 twice. In another hand, I have KhQh. Board comes down 3 hearts. I bet, Karen (only time we're at the same table) raises, other guy in pot folds, so I check it down /w Karen who has AhTh (thankfully it was her, or I lose everything to any of the other players at the table). In yet another hand, bad woman player raises from BB. I call with KdQd, Karen calls behind. Flop is Q6h5h. Lady leads. I know I have her beat, but choose to just call because I want value. Karen is suddenly raising behind. Lady calls all in. I fold. Lady has QhJh, but Karen has 55 which holds. In final tilt-inducing hand at this table, I have 66 in BB in a 5-way pot. Flop is QcJc6s. I bet, the J5 guy from before raises. I shove, he calls and flips up JJ??? Somehow I miss quads, and lose another $100+ to this guy. Leave for dinner down a buy-in+.Dinner at Hugo's is great, but pricey. Decide to play some $5 BJ for about 3 hours. I lose $6, Karen wins $25 or something, but we have a great time playing /w a friendly dealer. Go home to sleep.7/6Last full day in Vegas, so we decide to get as much as possible in. Play some 1/2 at Venetian and I'm up $50 on no interesting hands. We play PH tournament again, and this time I get a good read on a guy who's playing stupid. Eventually I shove over his bet with Q8 on a QdXdX board. He literally says "I feel lucky" and calls with Jd2d and hits diamond on turn. FML, really. We go back to Venetian to eat at Grand Lux on comps and decide to play 7:00 tournament. This one goes better for the first 4 levels or so, accumulating chips, but eventually in 3 successive hands I end up spewing some chips when I raise AQ UTG and have to fold to a raise/re-shove and defending BB/SB /w decent holdings. Since I'm short, I shove over an UTG raise /w AJ, and get called by K9. I make trips and am back in business. A few hands later the K9 guy open-shoves. I re-shove with AsKs. He shows 55 and flops a 5. Very next hand, a new UTG guy raises. I shove with 77. UTG calls with QJ and flops AKT, gg me.Karen's still in tournament for a while, but doesn't cash. I go play 1/2 and again get no hands. There's a guy with $1k on the table who's donating a bit, so it's worth staying. But I'm basically even after 4 hours at 2AM. At this point, an Asian kid who busted out of the deepstack for like $600 and is drunk decides to come gamble it up at our table. He's playing every hand, etc. and goes through like $500 in 20 minutes, but I can't catch any of it. The $1k guy has tilted off like $600 in this time too, but a parade of Q6, T4, 84, etc. mean nothing for me. Eventually table starts to get ridiculously rowdy and dealer is having some trouble containing it. Floor gives us some warnings, but it just makes it worse. Eventually table decides to flip for $25 each. Dealer does a great job making sure we're not scamming each other. We all agree not to look before board is dealt out, but one guy decides to turn his 79 up immediately. Flop of course comes down 995 /w 2 spades. Turn is As, river is Ac. Everyone sweats their cards and girl at table who had just sat down with her boyfriend tables AQ to win $250 flip pot. She tips dealer $15 and floor at this point has about had it with us, so we settle down. But Karen's tired and busted (her KK lost to a set) so we call it quits. I leave down $20 and $25 from the flip (I had J6).BTW, in this time, two guys ordered food. It's great that Venetian has this service. However, it takes 2 hours to arrive and orders are wrong. These guys are on my side of the table, so we all have a great laugh about it.One guy then proceeds to order banana split for $12. The thing is the size of a watermellon. Seriously, if you're playing at Venetian order this. It's worth it just for the novelty. Floor kept coming by in envy as he ate it.7/7We eat at PH, try to win free slot pull for the 3rd time, but no luck. I lose friend's $30 craps bet, but win $15 in mega-millions.We fly home tired.

All told, I was down a buy-in after many hours (cash) and 3 tournament buys. That's well within variance. I had a +cash, +tournament and +craps trip last year, so it's just fluctuations really. Nothing depressing about the trip. Had a great time. Need to play more live to get back into the game.

I want to play the Thursday night cheap PLO game at Excalibur on the electronic tables, so we head there.
Details if you can. I'm a huge PLO fan, and can never find a game in vegas. The closest I ever get is the 4/8 kill Limit O/8 game at Orleans. I'm going to live here during my september trip I think.....even though I've still never bent and played the E-tables. Hopefully there could be some money to be made there though.EDIT: NM I just read on after the paragraph gapper and see you go into more detail. Is it a 1/2 table then? Is there more than 1? Just checking. Thx man.

Yeah, E-Tables at Excal are gone as of 7/4, so this was the last night on them. We didn't go back there to see what happened, but the rumor is they're going back to live tables. The floor at Excal claimed not to have any more knowledge, but did say he'd still run PLO or PLO/8 live small stakes if people keep coming. They had probably about 10 tables, only 4 or so were in use, so it's not like they were preventing people playing. We were playing $0.50/$1.00 PLO as set up by various 2+2 folks over in the Brick & Mortar forum. They talked about moving the game elsewhere if Excal can't accommodate. That said, Venetian was running 2/5 PLO pretty consistently on 2-3 tables if you have the roll/gamble to play it. I'm by no means a good PLO player, I just wanted to do something different while we had the opportunity. On a side note, in the last 1/2 session, we were playing next to a 10/20NL table that was somehow not in the salon. A fight nearly broke out and then some Euro gets up yelling "You stay there, I'll go get 50!" and proceeds to grab $50k from the cage. Must be nice.

So disappointing.2/5 would definitely be a stretch for me, especially when people start throwing the straddles down.FARK. So disappointing. I would have been there in a heartbeat.

LOL, this news of the 1/2 PLO table, and the fact that it's now already gone, has seriously ruined my day. That's like my vegas dream to get to play that game live at those stakes.still, excellent TR.

Please don't mention Elisha Cuthbert if there are not pics to go with it.LOL at the flips. Everytime I get flips going the floormen and dealers get pissed off. Which I don't understand because they always get tipped pretty good by the person who won the flip. Maybe flips with blinds would make them more happy lol.

I'd never flipped live before. It was odd, the dealer was told by the floor "that's going to be your most fun down all shift" before he hit our table, but then the floor was hanging around glowering. We weren't being disruptive to anything other than ourselves though, so whatever. As for Elisha, go Google some pics. She was hot, sure, but not made up, and wearing more than most pics around.
