They have been trying to trade him forever, so maybe this was as good as it was going to get. Maybe other GM's see the question marks too? Its not like Carolina wanted to trade him to Buffalo, so this means no other team offered a 1st rounder for this "30 goal scorer". Â What I find funny is how much he was slagged by most people when he didn't score, (only had 49pts in 82gp last year) or got concussions routinely, and was overpaid at 6mill....and now 1 year away from being a UFA, all anyone can recall about him is that he scored 30 goals. Â I think he's a very good player, always have, and I think he should do well in Buffalo if used properly, but it seems like everyone suddenly changed their views about him.
