Tavares, Auston and Naz down the middle would make the Leafs possibly one of the top teams up the middle. However that doesn’t address the main deficiency on the roster which is defense IMO. But JT is probably the best UFA in nhl history based on his age and ability. I’m pretty sure he is signing with Isles at this point. BUT, Im still very curious to see how this unfolds. At the end of the day, I always feels like this comes down to the persons character/personality, and what they value. Hardly anyone knows what he really wants, and maybe he wants to come to Toronto and be the guy. I thought Stamkos would want that, and I was proven wrong. Will be interesting to see this unfold, though I will be a little dissapointed if again, this all proves to be nothing but an Islanders re-sign. Link to post Share on other sites

If Tavares signs, Nylander will stay, and we'll roll out one of best forward groups in the league and figure it out/find value on Defense.
