Dubey 1,035
nice. I had been on a good run, just trying to run up a freeroll win on my own account. won $7 on a freeroll in week 2. doubled up to $14 in week 3, then $28 in week 4, then $56 in week 5, then up to $110 in week 6. My double up lineup lost this week though. Luckily I didn't go for the full double again as I wasn't feeling great about my lineup. Back down to $50 now.
GOCUBSGO 77
Sorry Josh, picked a bad week to follow my bets No worries, I'm betting pretty small amounts.
Dubey 1,035
I entered something called a monopoly NFL pool. $100 to enter. You get $10,000 "monopoly money" to bet with. Must bet at least $100 on at least 4 games every week (spreads only. no parlays or anything), but you can bet as much as you want on as many games as you want. There are 75-85 players in, and the money is top heavy. I heard that last year, the guy who won ended up with over a million. I think the strategy is to go hard on a single game or 2 every week and just be aggressive and hope you get hot. obviously tighten up if tons of people drop out or the field gets creamed in a given week or whatever. So, after 7 weeks, there are 69 people remaining out of 100, and 19 of those 69 have more than the $10,000 we started with. Pretty pitiful showing from the pool. One guy (JT Miller from the rangers) is running away with it. he is up to $101,000 and kept his foot on the accelerator last week despite having more than double the $$ of second place. I am currently in 12th place with $13,200. I'm going for a full double up on 1 game this week because I don't want to play for 2nd place and I need a couple double ups (and Miller to slow down) to get within striking distance of 1st place. Leader: $101,000 2nd: $29,000 3rd: $24,800 4th: $18,800 5th: $17,500 12th (me): $13,200 Miller had $4,000 left after week 1. his "stack" has gone: 10k-4k-8k-16k-30k-50k-75k-101k - Impressive. My progression: 10k-2k-3k-6k-6k-12k-25k-13k I'll be betting $12,900 on a single game this week. Not sure which one yet.
digitalmonkey 929
How many more weeks are left?
Babying 613
How many more weeks are left? There are 17 weeks in the NFL season unless it goes into the playoffs (which I doubt)
Dubey 1,035
I think it actually goes through the end of the divisional round of the playoffs. So, lots of time left, as long as this guy doesn't keep doubling up every week.
MapleLeafpoker 1,462
Miller had $4,000 left after week 1. his "stack" has gone: 10k-4k-8k-16k-30k-50k-75k-101k - Impressive. first I thought it was cool it was JTM. But then I was just impressed anyone could do that kind of 6 week run. wow
Dubey 1,035
Yeah Devan got me and him into this pool through Alex Stalock, and I think it's run by somebody in the sharks organization, equipment manager or trainer or something. Lots of NHLers, and former NHLers in the pool, kinda cool to scroll through the standings and recognize like 30 names. Most random entry? Kevin Youkilis.
MapleLeafpoker 1,462
Most random entry? Kevin Youkilis. I feel like I heard once of a connection between him and hockey, but cant recall. Kind of like a "played in college" or something like that. I just always remember him as the "Greek God of Walks". Which is funny, cause I just found out he's Jewish. Dubey 1,035
so, as usual, after actually researching the games and listening to some podcasts, I've changed my mind about my betting strategy this week. There's quite a few games that I like but no single game that I feel great risking it all on. There's also a lot of time left in the season, and with only 1 guy way out front, there's still a decent chance that he comes back to the field a bit, so no need to panic just yet. if there were multiple people at 100k+, I'd feel more pressured to go for a full double up this week. With that said.. If I was going to go all in on a game this week, I would have chosen LA Chargers +7.5 But, here are my bets for the week: Baltimore Ravens -3 $2,500 Detroit Lions +3 $2,500 LA Chargers +7.5 $3,200 Carolina +2 $2,500 49ers +13 $2,500 Now, the only catch is, since I am betting on TNF, I am locked in at whatever the final line ends up at tomorrow for the other 4 games. This doesn't matter as much to me this week since I will be travelling tomorrow and won't have time to review the lines anyway. Plus, since I am generally betting against the public, if the lines are going to move, it is more likely they will move in my favour, and if there is revers line movement, well all the better for my picks
iBeaver 409
Good luck. Sorry you'll lose the SNF bet.

On baseball reference, probably the second most popular stats site, players IDs are the first 5 letters of their surname followed by the first two of their first name. They had to specially code in an exception for Youkilis...

gruven 530
Really felt the back to back stinker coming from the pens. So I load up on jets on DFS. Yeah, I have ehlers, laine, and little. Zero zero and .5 pts. Oh, Blake wheeler with 12 pts? Didn't take him. I suck.

Felt like I was on the right side of 4 out of 5 bets. Chargers had that fluky safety which ended up being the difference between covering or not. Detroit had 4 trips inside the 10 yard line that resulted in a total of 3 points and they should have won that game outright. niners just suck. Balance after week 8: $10,000. Back to where we started. Won't see the standings until tomorrow morning, so not sure how the leaders fared.
Dubey 1,035
JT Miller up to $145,000. What a savage

MapleLeafpoker 1,462
I had to go back to this... 10k-4k-8k-16k-30k-50k-75k-101k - now 145k? thats ridiculous. I guess you dont find out his picks until after the games are played? sure would be nice to piggyback on his bets this Sunday, and kill his mojo for you.
Dubey 1,035
no, actually they don't publish the picks at all, even after the week is over. I'd be interested to see his past picks and to know whether he is just picking 1 game every week and going big on it, or if he is running absurdly good across a number of games every week.
